![]() | What's a good soil for growing? What size pots should I use per plant? I read the grow guide, but it still leaves me a quite bit confused. I plan on using my closet to grow, so that's about a 2' Width * 5' Height growing area (how many plants do you think I could fit in there?). From what the guide says, I think I should use a 60W HID MH for the vegatative growth period and a 60W HID HPS for the flowering stage (any suggestions would be great). I've never heard of HID light so I don't know what I'll need for assembly. I know I'll need a ballast (I've selected a magnetic one) and a starter, but it's a light so I'm thinking it'll need more than that (a socket or whatever). Also, if anyone could list what type of food they give their plants during germination, vegetation, and flowering; I would appreciate it. That's all the questions I can think of right now. Any help is appreciated! [EDIT] What size pots should I use? Since I only have 2 square ft. to grow in, I want to optimize my grow space (maximized quantity without dampening the quality). ![]() | im fairly new to growing as well, but i can give u a little advice from the knowledge i have gained. depending on how much depth your closet has it it hard to tell how many you can fit... but if you want to maximize space use square pots, ive heard that a pot that holds anywhere from 3 gallons-5 gallons is optimal, but you can start with smaller pots and transplant later. as for soil i have been using scott's seed starter potting soil, it is ideal for germination and clones, contains rooting hormones, and has a good mix for aeration and absorption, plus its cheap and easy to find (walmart, home depot, etc.). as for ferts, most growers don't recommend using any ferts until after you have a seedling growing and then start with a diluted mix and work your way up...im not sure on what works best but you can find that out from someone once the time comes. i would stick with distilled or bottled water for now. www.northernlightsgrowroom.com has great prices on lights anyways, i tried to help as much as possible, im no expert so try to find out as much as possible from reading the posts on here, just figured i would give you some basic hints so you can get started and figure the rest as you go peace out grow buds and prosper | ||

![]() ![]() | you're definately gonna need more room..what are the dimensions of the grow area? to grow a plant from a bean all the way to buds you'll need at least a three gallon pot...at the very minimum you could always use 2 gallon pots...they will become root bound definately in that...you lights might be alright but i would definately go stronger....i still don't have an hps...but im lookin to buy one real soon... id go with at least 250 .. Peacefully ,Guerilla
