Some of you probably already know about this, but I found this little thing to be really helpful and a simple way to germinate seeds and then transplant them. I went to the garden store today to pick up some Jiffy Peat Pellets, and what do I find? A cool little Jiffy greenhouse with 25 peat pellets for $8.99 US. All you do is add the water, then stick the seeds in the expanded pellets. You cover them up with the included cover, and voila! An instant germination greenhouse. Plus, when they're ready to be put into soil, transplanting couldn't be easier.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ive had problems trying to use those peat pellets in the past, i got some and they must have been too old and didnt expand much with water. the next time i got some different ones and only one side expanded really with the addition of the water. so i decided to never use them again after that. -hb

![]() | I read in another thread here some where that they were a little on the acidic side. I have used them before and they have worked out ok. It does take alot of water to get them to swell up to full size, but they retain that water very well.

![]() | they are made from peat moss that has been compressed and cut to the shape of a coin. They have a netting around them to keep them from falling apart when wet. All you do is soak them in water for a couple of minutes and they grow like ten times taller. then you put your seed in the top like you would in soil and wait.

![]() | It works ok, but not to much different from using a good soil.

![]() | I have tried using them and has no success, but a friend has used them and had success... I switched to using organic plugs from my local hydro store and have much more success with those.
