Question
permalink

How much will it smell when i start to grow. I'll be growin in an old bomb shelter in my house. There is a panel that overs it. It has wood around the panel six inches down and then styrofoam in the center... I don't know what's under the sytrofoam. It's finaly covered with a rug. It is not air tight. Will the smell leak through all this? It's in an area where my family is all the time.

well...a lot of the whole smell factor depends the potency of the seed strain...
ive grown some $hit that doesnt smell until it flowers and then ive grown some $hit that at about six inches tall in the veg stage, if you were to open the closet the stench would fill the whole room!!! The place you described doesnt sound too bad but the ony way to know is to give it a whirl...
There are also a lot of other ways to get rid of smell...check my post at the bottom of this page...people gave me a lot of good tips!!!!
good luck

Talking odor control..
permalink

haha pharm, yea i know what you mean man.
I'm growing just 3 Northern Lights in the closet, they are almost 30 days old now from seed. I noticed the smell about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago. Really strong now though, i might have to do something about it soon.

To answer the initial question, i heard ionizers work great for a small area. They are found at most hydroponic stores, online and off. Also they are very affordable. I may decide to buy one of these soon since i only have 3 plants going.

Otherwise, if you have a roomfull you need to invest in an Ozone Generator, which could be $150 to $300 or higher, depending on it's capability. I know nothing on how they work, but from the majority i've heard they are the best option for superb odor control.

Hope this helps guys, check me out in the growing diaries sometime.
