Watering & soil
permalink

I seem to have troubles knowing whether my soil is dry enough so I should water it. Is it best to water once the top layer is completely dry or all of it? My soil is very clumpy and seems completely 100% dry, so i just watered it. So far it seems like I water every 2, maybe 3 days.

How often does everyone else water their plants? I hear letting the soil completely dry makes the roots grow more in search for water and eventually makes a stronger plant?

That's not good. Ideally, your soil should crumble even when wet.

I always put my finger through a drain hole and feel the bottom. When it is dry down there, I will give her a good watering. How often depends on growth and lighting factors.

Good growing,
Plains

you can also get a water meter. its a metal rod with a meter on top that reads from dry to moist. its like 10 bucks at home depot and it tells you exactly what the moisture of the soil is at the bottom of the pot.
