![]() | There are a lot of messages from new pot growers on how to grow indoors, and most of the info given to them has too much technical info. First off,buy a light. They can be: High Pressure Sodium(HPS) Metal Halide(MH) Florescant(shop or circle lite) HPS is good for buds.It has light in the red/yellow spectrum. These bulbs heat up at higher wattages.Simulates summer sun MH is good for the vegetative cycle. It has light in the blue/white spectrum.Simulates spring sun. Floros are good for small setups. They produce less watts of light than HPS or MH,but they do work good. All of these lights can grow pot from start to finish. You need at least 35-50 watts per square foot of space. That means, for a space 2x2 feet(4 square feet),150-200 watts of light is good.1 plant per square foot is the general rule, and 9 clones to a square foot can be done. Now for the grow area. Each plant needs 1 square foot of space to grow.Depending on how many plants you wish to grow and/or the size of the light will determine your grow area size. You can use a large cardboard box, dresser, old filing cabinet, etc.Be creative.Line the inside of the box with mylar, tinfoil(dull side up),or white paint. This will reflect the light, actually increasing growth.Suspend your light from the top of the grow area, either so the lights can be raised/lowered or so the plants can be raised or lowered. The plants must be as close to the light as possible without burning them. And remember-the grow area should be NO LESS than 4 feet tall, due to the plants grow 3 times their size when flowering is started. Soil is needed next.A mixture of 40%soil,20%vermiculite,15%perlite,10%sand,and the rest a nutrient rich soil is what I use.Put large gravel rocks in the bottom of the pot. This allows excess water to flow to the bottom and not drown the roots(poke holes in the container so the water does not fill up).Add a VERY watered down amount of 20-20-20 to the soil and mix it all up,and then let the soil sit for a week before using. This allows some of the nutrients to break down so the seedling grows faster. Air circulation is next.Any sort of small fan will work.If you area is enclosed, like a box, have the fan near the top blowing air out,and poke some air holes in the bottom. This allows a draft of fresh air to circulate around the plants. You should now be ready to put seeds in. Plant seeds .5-1 inch in the soil, and pour a little water on it.Keep in a warm place.Should sprout in 3-7 days. Place seedlings under 24 solid hours of light a day until they are about 12 inches high.Than get out the timer and put the lights on 12on/12off. Female flowers have little hairs, and males have sacs. I hope this helps clear up some of the questions in the threads.I did not go into Ph and all that,as the technical info is about as understandable as Swahili to most beginners. Good luck! ps-pH should be between 6-6.9 or so.

![]() | Delta thanx alot man. One more question, In Wisconsin it get pretty ****ing cold here, and im thinking of growing in my atic because my mom and dad never go up there, and even it they did there are so many ****ing boxes they would never find it. Any ways, would the lightbulb and the encased aluminum box be warm enough for the plant? If not what can i do to fix the heat problem? Would adding extra bulbs be suffiecient?

![]() | No prob with the help piper.Ok.If you are concerned about heat, get one of those red heat lamps, and turn it on when the lights are off.If you are using HPS or MH,the cold should not be a problem while the lights are on.If you can somehow make a little"room"(hang blankets, stack boxes, etc.)and place the heat lamp in it,and shine it at the grow room box,it should keep the temp good.Space heaters can be used, but they are dangerous, unless you get one of the small fan/heat blowers.Check the attic temp at night, and tell me what it goes down to.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Piper, also be careful about growing in the attic, because if there's snow on the roof, the heat from the lights might melt some of it (depending on how good the attic insulation is) which your parents will probably notice. just a thought. ![]()

![]() | in my house there is no real attic. Most Aussie houses just have a space above the ceiling under the tiled roof. At the highest point there is a gap of about 4/5 ft max. so i am having a bit of trouble building the grow room. All i have to worry about is my parents going up there to turn on the gas to the central heater again at the start of winter and Pork choppers flying around looking for a mysterious light seeping out through the gaps in the tiles. The room MUST be light proof or knock! knock! Bacon Patrol!!! Wish me luck and good luck to you all with your operations!

![]() | use guerilla gardening techniques.Find a tall plant or bush or a plant that looks something like weed, and plant it in or near the center of the plant.or plant several near the base of the tree so it looks like a bush and not weed. The tree shouldn't stop the sun, except for the noon sun, which is too hot and bright and might hurt the plants.

![]() | Delta, Thanks for the crash course. But me and a friend are looking to start up, and need someone to teach us the ins and outs of growing our own hemp. Would we be fortunate enough to benefit from your knowledge? We have never grown it before, and would like to start. IM me or send me an e-mail. Thanks again.

![]() | As you all may realize by this reply, I am a serious newbie the the mary-jane game. I mean, I've smoked it for a long time, but I never bought it or grown it. I would like to start though. Your post was very informative delta, but I was wondering if it matters if you use a cardboard box. I was thinkin' of using a plasitc tote that I have here for stability. I have a lot of small parties that I'm afraid will get too crazy some day and someone is gonna end up stompin' tha plant. I was just gonna cut some holes in tha tote, like one at the top for the lamp and fan and a few at the bottom for circulation. Would this be OK? lost in inebriation, pinchie
