Since I'm new here, thought I might share an idea or 2 and get some feedback.

I grow 2 2/3 ft plants in a smallish section of a closet under a 400w MH lamp. I don't have a fan. I try to compensate for it by opening the closet door for a bit. For my circumstances, is this o.k.? My plants seem to be doing fine so far.

Also, I try to add co2 to my grow area by adding vinegar to baking soda (bi carb) each day. Is it worth it? Does anyone else use this method? It's most economical for me. I stop this co2 supplement when flowering. Good idea?

see ya

it would be very wise to get youself a fan. it will keep you plants stems strong. which helps support the fat kb buds.

elektrocute, TNJ82 is right. Get your self a fan. Even a small one will do the trick. I didn't have one for the first month or so I was growing and have a weak stem cuz of it.
I dunno about the your method to get co2? I wouldent worry about it too much.
Leaving your door open through out the day is a good idea.

give er!

Thanks for the feedback fellas. I have a small fan now which I've set to blow 5 minutes every hour and a half, for 6 cycles (brought it a week ago as one of my plants is beginning to bud - yippee!)

I set it up so it blows the warm air from the top of the closet down around the plants. Good idea???

ciao guys.

Just a note here, I use a 400w MH lamp, and it produces the strongest stems. I swear it! When I had no fan, stems were super healthy and ultra strong. After using a MH lamp, I'd never grow under flouro's or bush again.

ciao.

I have my fans hooked up to a power strip, which is hooked up to a timer. My fan's run continuously when my 400 HPS are running 12/12. Too much cool air can't hurt?

Yep, fully. But for me, that might be using too much power (I'm not too cashed up). Does your fan ever scare you that it may overheat, malfunction and cause a fire? Maybe someone has a story to do with this? I'd be interested in hearing it.

What I meant was that the fans only run 12 hours a day (during light time) My desk-top style fan(120 V, .26 A) only uses 31 watts per hour. At 10 cents a kilowatt ( I pay less than 7 cents), that's about four cents per day.

Fire should be no concern. A fan with so little amps won't cause a problem, and the fused power strip will trip before any problems occur. I would be more worried about the fire danger of my 400 W HPS + external ballast!

I wouldn't worry too much about your fans.. I've had the same fans runnung 24,7,365 for almost 2 years with no problems. I just wonder how long they'll last, I figured they'd die long ago..
And the cost to run them is almost nothing.. I doubt you'd even notice a fan on your electric bill.
