![]() | welcome to HC.com Bluntlee!!! glad to hear you waited until you moved out to your own place before you got crazed with growing. with the large quantity of underage growers and kids trying to grow under daddy's roof it's nice once in awhile to hear about someone being responsible. kudos. to determine the height of your boxes you will first want to take into account pot height, light height and then depending on what kind of lights you are using, distance from light to plant tops. for the vegging chamber you can use fluoros. the best would be EVLs or the fluorescent floodlights you have seen. just make sure it's a fluoro though or else you are wasting your money. with the flowering chamber you are really going to want to get a HPS system to ensure nice centerfold-ish buds. you can flower with fluorescents, EVLs being the best, but if you have two chambers than you might as well try a different lighting. as for training, go right on ahead with it. being your first grow you may want to just grow the plants out and see how you do your first time then the second time around try various methods out. if you are set on training though LST would work well, a SoG would also do the trick. if you have the time and money a good ventilation system would help with heat issues, ensuring that you wont have to worry about it down the road. you may want to give that some thought. now as for the height of the boxes...i like to overestimate as to ensure enough space. 1' for pots, 1' for light, (if you use fluorescents only keep them about an inch away from plant tops), and then plant height, say 2.5'. so between 4-5', i know it sounds big but i am overestimating don't forget. as for the flowering chamber, you are going to need room for the distance between plant tops and light so maybe 5-6'. if you do train or use a SoG these numbers can be drastically reduced. good luck. peace, trev.
