First Indoor Grow & Questions
permalink

Have been U-ground for awhile -- My previous grows (only 3 outdoor). Now I would like to try an indoor soil grow. I'm in the planning stages as I know I must have most planning complete before starting. Prolly do a flower/harvest for my first grow with some LST is doable. -- I miss the grow guide and hope it comes back up soon. Been reading ALOT here AGAIN This is what I got so far.

My area---

14 X 14 X 7 basement area (stays very cool) also very secure
Mylar on 2 walls presently --- partitioning 2 more with access door (W/Mylar)
Thinking of roughly 20 Square feet within the room (Has no windows --- no light problems)

Lights---

1000 Watt Switchable MH/HPS Super sun IV (Vented Hood/ Fittings & Hose)
1 - 1000 watt MH conversion bulb (I know I'll loose Lumens -- It was free)
Will get 1000 watt HPS bulb in the mail soon

Already put in dedicated 20AMP circuit for light/fan & accesories.

Locating the ballast in ajacent area(outside room) for lower temps

Ventilation:

Exhaust------TBD----------Questions below
Intake------- TBD

Soil:

FF Ocean Forest /Perlite

Beans -- Seeds:

10 - AK-47
10 - C-99
10 - Assorted Bagseed

Paper towel method to sprout --- 6 0z pots transfer to 3 Gallon pots

Nutrients:

Veg: FF Grow Big
Flower:FF Big Bloom

Also have:

HD timer
Accurate Soil pH and Moisture Meter

Assorted Organic Ferts (FF Rock Phosphate,Bat Guano,Kelp meal,Liquid mag pro,Potash,Alaskan Fish Fert,Sea start,Blood meal,Neptune harvest Fish & Seaweed.

I plan on running the 1000 MH light & Post fan for 24 hours to determine temps and RH in my area.

Questions:

A)Should I use my MH for seedlings or should I use floro's (Have 2-2' floro's (80 watt total---this enough till Veg?) that I can use during this seedling stage to keep temps down.
B)Wondering if I can get away with keeping the top of the walls open (Keeping in mind the smell may be a problem --- I might be able to deal with) C)What about intake (Fresh air) for this size room.
I have been given a bunch of Sta-Green Potting mix .13-.04-.09 is this usable or should I stay away from preferted (figured I'd use in 3 gal pots if needed)
DAnyone have a soil combination considering the ferts I have at my disposal (Have alot more threads to read on this)

Have other q's but geting long ---- Any other questions or suggestions -This is the time. THANKS

I'll comment on Q a. Use the HID at a min 2-3ft distance untill they develop some good fan leaves. If you can use the HID as soon as any leaf appears (Even the first two) They can handle the light and will appreciate it.

If you are going to use the flo's place one-two inches from the tops, but IMO, use the HID-MH

I would start'em with that MH. You'll be doing alot of adjusting the first two weeks, so make sure the light is easily moveable.

Sounds like a pretty good setup. Is the room completely enclosed on all four sides? If so, you may want to think about mounting a fan in one of those walls. I am lucky that my door can almost always be open, so I use a pole fan.

I use the Fox Farm soil that has many organic things already in it. All I add is the guanos, perlite (about 25%), and Pure Blend organic nutes.

Don't be surprised if you eventually need to get a de-humidifier (especially during flower). Most basements require it around here. Probably depends on the climate you live in too, though.

You should be off to a good start.

Ok OnAMission says HID start to finish also -- This makes it easy

Room is closed on all four sides. Door could stay open (I have a Pole fan)

What ratio of Guano do you add to your soil Bulldog.

I do have a Dehumidifier if I need it ---- Definatly have used it before curing my outdoor grow.

Thanks for the help
