![]() | Hello all. I've been reading and absorbing as much info as I can but there is just so much (especially some conflicting info) that I've decided to just post some of my questions. Let me begin first by giving you a little background. I live in a place where weed prices are inflated beyond belief. Dealers sell .6g of high mids (yes you heard me right, point six) for $20. I'm also the type of person who likes DIY projects as opposed to paying someone else for something I can do myself. Thus I've decided to start my own indoor stealth grow. So far I've got: - seeds (10 Nirvana NL, 4 feminized ICE & 10 troublemakers) - grow cab (a wardrobe measuring 3'w x 6'h x 2'd with a 2'w x 2'h x 4'd space I'll be using to grow the nugs - 250w HPS/MH - home made carbon scrubber I've spend quite a lot on this project thus far so I'm on a tight budget. Now for the questions. 1. What soil would you recommend? 2. Do I NEED to use nutrients to get a good yield and if so which ones are essential/very good to use? 3. Can I effectively grow 3 different strains at once using the single chamber I have and if so what's the best way to do it? 4. My grow chamber is only 4 feet high, should I tie the plants down so they don't grow too high or do something else to them to stop them from hitting the light? Or do I not have to worry about this? 5. How far should the light be from the plants when I start? How far during the rest of the grow? 6. The carbon scrubber I built is sort of like Ryokos but has 2 chambers, one filled with activated carbon... should I place this inside the grow chamber and have a fan sucking air out of the cab or have the carbon scrubber away from the chamber and have the fan blowing air from inside the cab out via the scrubber? 7. Will 4 plants be too much for a 4 sq. foot grow space? 8. What yields can I expect from my first grow? (ballpark figures or anecdotes since I know it's impossible to estimate exactly) Thanks a bunch ahead of time. I know this is a lot to ask but I might as well consolidate it into one thread rather than having 8 different ones.

I grow in hydro, in an open room so my situation is MUCH different than yours.

![]() ![]() | You can achieve the same results MUCH cheaper than with Fox Farms (I've also heard they add nonorganic micronutrients...pretty much I've heard ANY liquid fertilizer has some added inorganic...but still, I feel fox farms, while inarguably good, is over priced). I myself am getting into organic growing and am looking at guano/molasses teas (REALLY cheap to do, and absolutely the best...from what I've read here). If tea making is beyond your grow constraints I've had excellent results with Schultz's bloom feeding (wal-mart buy...ultra cheap...I switched to bone meal, another wal-mart buy and molasses for my current run...looking good so far), then a molasses feeding, then a straight h2o watering. The molasses makes all the difference in my opinion (tsp per gallon water) as it has TONS of miconutrients (which a lot of generic ferts don't contain), and does a lot of other amazing things (check out some of Profounds organic nute posts)...With a proper flush, Schultz, and molasses I've got better tasting herb than anything I've not paid and arm and a leg for (organics are even better tasting, hence my switch). I've tried Fox Farms soils as well, and found that I can get the same consistancy of soil with just perlite and cheap organic potting soil (you would have to add your own nutes for this, but I prefer that, as I know exactly what the plant is getting and when). If keeping up with, or getting into anything I've posted is not your thing, than, by all means, go with Fox Farms.....you'll just be paying to not have to futz around with anything serious.
