I was wandering Whats the best soil mix to use for growing? I have never grown anything except tomato's before. And they didn't do very good, but I think it was because of the limited light. I have a 65 watt fluorex CFL in a box that is four foot high and 1 1/2' x 2' . i think i should be able to fit at least 5 or 6 plants in there. please let me know what yall think.

I use Fox Farms -Ocean Forrest soil with 35%perlite and FF-Greensand, 2 table spoons per gallon. This mix is sure to get your plants off to a great start without burning. When the cotolyns dry out and fall off start using Alaska fish 5-1-1 in combination with seakelp extract for veg.For flower go with the FF-tigerbloom and bigbloom plus Blackstrap molasses.Every other feeding I also add 1/2 teaspoon of epson salts. Now having said that-It will not matter what nutes you add without the proper lights your grow will not be what you want it to be.

Would four 4' fluorescent grow lights plus the 65 watt cfl help? I am also putting up Styrofoam for reflection.

I also want to cut down on noise from fans and such. how would i go about doing this? I know the Styrofoam will help but i seem to be having a serious hum going on. I need this thing to be super quiet.

One more question. What is the best filter/fan combo to use for removing odors.

the extra lights would definately help in this situation.
The filter you can either buy or make it yourself
this link is pretty good for it http://www.gardenscure.com/420/const...arbon+scrubber

as for the noise, what kind of setup do you have and what general location is it in?

5-6 plants in a 2½ sq ft grow space... I'd say four plants at the most during veg, and two... maybe three to flower.

Accoustical tiles work well for dampening sound.

yea well start with 5 if you want and that way when you get to flowering you have better chance of having 2-3 females in that small grow space...

Lol. Seriously though, do not bother with the crap that is sold at lowes or any other hardware store. Buy the above mentioned soil, its a little bit more expensive, but trust me when i say it is worth it!!!!!!!!
