Leaving young clones unattended
permalink

Hey all!

On Thursday I'm going to be leaving town for about 36 hours for my work. I have some young clones in a humidity dome that don't have roots yet. Normally I mist them atleast twice a day..which obviously I won't be able to do. I can mist immediately before I leave and that's it.

I'm wondering if you guys can give me some ideas for keeping the humidity up in the dome? Would wet towels or a cup of water in the dome help?

Thanks

I'd be worried about too much humidity by leaving the domes on. I don't use domes and clone directly into soilless mix. If you are concerned with keeping them moist put them on a baking sheet and fill the sheet with a bit of water. By Thursday they should not need a dome.

I guess you're right..they should be okay by then. I hope.

I'm not sure what you mean about the baking sheet?

Here's a pic(not current) of my cloning tray and dome

Put maybe a 1/4" of water in a baking sheet (plates work good too) then set your cups in it so the soil is able to sponge up water as needed. I would poke holes at the sides of the cups right near the base not at the base itself b/c the cup could block water.
