![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Getting lots and lots of roots in the tray. The base soil is getting dry. Procedure now is to let the plant become dependent on the new roots. So no more water for the base soil. I figure about a week or so before I get out the electric knife.

http://www.gardenscure.com/420/cloni...-layering.html AL works very well. The upside is you don't need to have a cloning 'area'. The rooted al'ed clone goes directly into medium/veg. Save time and space. Down side is takes a bit of time and is not the best for taking many clones at once, although I have a pic in a GJ where I have 4 or 5 al sites on the same plant.

Took 3 clones from her today and thought I would try a snap. The base soil is getting very dry, I will be keeping an eye on her, and making sure the new roots don't get too wet or too dry. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | She was looking a bit 'ragged' last night. The old soil/roots are getting dry so I gave both soils a bit of nutes to cheer her up. On a side note, I have been reading up on Bonsi mums. I think this may be an alternative to root trimming, if one found the need to do it.

Painstaking job. I started with the electric knife but switched to a hacksaw blade for the finish. I will update when I see some wilt or the lack thereof.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the comment BC. Now is when I would post a pic of the old girl to show any wilting or other signs of stress as she recovers... I will just refer you to the last set of pics as I saw zero, nada, zip as far as any sign kind of stress on this girl, not a wilted leaf. (She feels like a teenager again, she told me so. ![]() | Thanks for this very useful thread! I was pondering on whether I could successfully AL my clone sites before separating them from the mother. Now I know it can be done. How long do you estimate it would take for a side branch to root pretty good?
