Cloning question?

I wasn't really sure where to put this, but it involves cloning so I made a thread here.
I posted this in my grow journal but no one really answered yet so I've decided to post in an appropriate spot.

Just moved in my plants to a new apartment and a new cabinet, they seem to be doing well, don't have access to my camera atm but will try to post pics by the end of this week.

So i was looking at both of my plants and I realize one of them has no secondary growth at all. My sativa plant has secondary growth and shoots all over, although its not loaded with leaves or anything.

My indica one right now is just a straight stem with primary growth. Sadly i've done alot of damage to it (dropped god knows how many items on it) and so theres only about 10 primary shoots growing. They're both about the same height and I cant really let it grow any taller.

Do you guys think I'll be able to keep the strain alive by taking a clipping of a primary shoot?
I noticed on my first plant that all the primary shoots basically die off and they never have any more growth to them than 1 set of leaves. Any thoughts guys?

PS- I basically copied and pasted my post from my journal up there, my general question is that I dont think my indica plant (not even sure if it's indica, just retarded) hasn't grown any secondary shoots since I've damaged it so much. How can I keep the strain alive?

what you will essentially be doing is, pruning, and yes it is very possible to root a pruned tip, it may take a little extra time and love to make it happen, check around on the forums a bit and you'll find some growers that do it very successfully...usually you should cut @ the 3rd node, roughly 4" long.....its how the Original Sea of Green began by Hans. hope this helps ya a bit

I usually take a few cuttings of each plant to root. Just to be safe. Pick the best cuttings if you don't think the plant will survive to be a mom. I've cloned the main shoot before. I've done this because of height restraints. I just cut down to where I need to be height wise. Once you cut that main stem, your plant will bush out

Instead of taking a cutting of that sick plant you might want to flush with h2o and let it dry out and see what happens
