What are the ideal conditions for clones?
permalink

I built a clone station. It has three levels. A lower reservoir for water. A root chamber where the bottom of my net cup is, and an upper humidity chamber for the top of the plants. It uses fog nebulizers to deliver water. I have air stones in the water. The air gets pushed up into the top chamber forcing fog and fresh air. I used the sugar yeast method to deliver c02 into the top chamber, its a half gallon of water/sugar. I am using plain water with a bit of h202. My top chamber is staying at 80 degrees and the RH is holding at 97%.

My questions are:

Is 97% RH to much?

Is 80 degrees good?

Do they need that much co2.

Do you think my bubbler is providing enough fresh air. Is fresh air necessary with c02.

What would be ideal conditions?

I can take pictures if anybody wants.

Thanks

yeah i'd love to see pics too but that not withstanding:

78°-80°f root zone and 80+ humidity is a good target

RH > 80% is very helpful for rooting clones and starting seedlings.

i never meausred the humidity in my domes, i just tell depedning on wether it has droplets of water on the dome. if it doesnt, i will mist them. 78-82 degrees is what i like. usually 5-9 days most will have visable roots.

Its a geranium. I moved to a new area (BFE) and cant find any bags to find seed. Until I can find some I'm playing with the wifee's flowers to tune my setup. The pics arent that great but you get the idea. ive got to ten inch bubblers with the tubes coiled through an ice res. the bubbles do a few things: 1. keep everything moving in the res. 2. cool the water - the water tends to get pretty warm with the ultrasonic foggers. 3. bring fresh air into the top chamber and force the fog up to the top. Ive got two foggers to provide much fine droplet mist. There is also a fine mist spraying unit to blast a little more volume. Ive got to tweak that because I have it spraying up and the water tends to get out a bit. I am going to use pvc and bring a manifold up to the top of the middle chamber and spray down. I think that is better for a few reasons one being the roots want wonder into the misters and clog. I think I may have to make a seperate fogging unit as the heat in the res is an issue. It is stable but i dont want to add ice everyday.

I am having fun trying to hit every ideal condition for plant growth

2.5 micron fog droplets for those fine root hairs - quick uptake

heavy spray form the pump for the bigger roots

aireted turbulant water from the bubblers

id like to also work on my top chamber. im looking for 1500 ppm co2, 50% RH, 85 - 90 temps and a strong 10000 lumens hps. I think hitting all these un-natural conditions will really make things interesting with plant growth.

Im just tooling around now but im learning and will make a modified system with much of the same equipment into a cab and go scrog.

any input or criticism is welcome
