Grendel is budding up nicely.Grendel is budding up nicely.Grendel is budding up nicely.Grendel is budding up nicely.
You're basically asking

if you could root a flower cutting. That's what buds are - the flower.

I think it would be near impossible, as I've never seen just a flower from a plant take root before. On the other hand, these flowers are pretty leafy and green so they appear to have the ability to photosynthesize... maybe if you were really lucky, used a bud with a higher percentage of leaves and used a rooting hormone, you might be able to pull it off... but I kinda doubt it. The physiology of a flower is specialized to a different set of needs than other parts of the plant so it probably isn't as adept at performing functions like rooting.

On that note... is there something in the buds that programs them to 'self destruct' or die or wilt or whatever...
if so would that hormone kill the rest of the cutting, or would the buds just dry up and fall off and the rest of the curring re-veg and keep living?
what if you took a cutting w/ just a few buds and a majority of leaf and used some rooting hormone... like grendel said? Would there be any hope?
