![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Still some going thanks Lou, though here are some mistakes i made. [or at least what i think killed some lol] 1. after carefully planting with minimal water in the soil mix [ potting mixes, sand, compost, composted cow manure and fine gravel], i put water in base of tub. My thought was to raise humidity [no fancy meters here sorry, lol], result was that i had dead uns and mold in some, by the time i did first tub opening. 2. doing it in flower, lot more delicate; the budsicle on the top collects water, get top heavy, collapse into mix surface; mold and die. 3. taking from understorey, using weaklings, some survived 1 and 2, just to die anyway My solution was to put the tub on the enclosed verandah, [ in southern hemisphere , so sun is on correct hours lol], dried them out a bit by having lid on loose. i reasoned fluoros in veg would not get me there. sun is the enemy of mould. end result is that out of over 2 dozen sfarters , i have 6 that look good, a dozen maybes [maybe dying, or maybe living lol]. veg space real estate is in short supply, so keeping them on porch where they get morning sun thru slat glass windows, diffuse light in afternoon. will move them along to end where its hotter when they harden up. Can they prosper and raise the rent for a pot under lights? i hope so, we are starting to bond. lol nigel

![]() | Lou, I could not hold back and I was tempted to dig up the clones that were just sitting there not doing anything. This is what I found maybe you can help figure this out . Each clone had four strands of root leaving the base stem, but the roots looked dried out or rotted. the soil wasn't that dry or muddy. Shouldn't the roots have survived and keep growing if the soil was a little bit on the dry side and could it have been that I over watered when I realized they were growing a bit . I'm not giving up on this strain yet. " There will be blood "

![]() | That's what I don't get Nigel. they need high humidity with temps in the high 80s but when I give em just that they get mold around the base and rot.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the Cloning tutorial Lou, I usually suck at cloning so a refresher maybe will help my success rate. This is the third clone I've tried off this same plant the first two I f''ed up already, hoping that third time's a charm. The cutting is inside a ten gallon fish aquarium with a sheet of plastic over the top.

I see you been having some problems with your clones. Unless you have RH lower than 15% you shouldn't put water in the tub, and if you do, keep an eye cause humidity will rise quickly and of course will create mold if the top its not open for fresh air to get in. Eliminate that completely, try to pick RH with keeping the clone box warm so the water in the soil evaporates and don't open the top that often. Taking clones during flowering, thats something I would do only in an emergency, definitely hard to root. IMO you should put them under floros 18/6, indoor environment its more constant and stable. Keep us posted of the progress.

Thats not the end of them though, if you re cut them and put them back in soil they might grab new root. As long as they have couple green leaves to absorb light, they'll grow in to plants. If you see them growing a bit, don't water them, spray them a little. Once they can stand longer than an hr with out dome then they're ready for some water in their pots. If you have a temp/RH meter keep notes of whats happening with them daily, that way you will be able to create a formula around the strains you cloning. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks Lou, a case of not wanting to waste clippings. They are sill alive, but struggling. My fault Bushrag. Was so careful just to put a bit in clone hole, keep mix dry. Then months of playing with seedlings kicked in, habit to put a bit of moisture in. By the time i woke up, too late. lol Does not take much moisture to raise humidity in a small space. Heads filling up now, so will have some mothers to give it a serious go. best wishes nigel

I wanted to follow up and say thanks again Lou - by far the easiest way with the most success I've had in a long time. I went 5 out of 6 for the first batch of mine - and the only one I lost was the one I experimented with, giving it slightly drier soil. I'm taking another batch of 6-8 tomorrow from the other plants I have in the garden, while the first 5 get transplanted. I'll post some pics later...
