![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | nigel, its all about trial and error my friend, but once you got it down, is about the easiest practice in a grow. Believe me when I say that it will come time that you wont want to deal with seeds unless you're trying a new strain. Cloning its the fastest way to a harvest. red-bull, you welcome man, glad you got something helpful out of it. Welcome to the Garden (if no one said it yet ).UTS, I see you got the procedure down packed. Those cuttings look nice and healthy. What kind soil is that you're using? Did you by any chance, kept notes of temp/RH will rooting them?

![]() I transplanted them today into 1 gallon pots - all 5 looking nice. They spent 8 days in the clonebox total counting the days I opened them for fresh air before spending the 2 days prior to transplant free ![]()

Approximately 2 1/2 weeks back, I shoved four leftover JC2 cuts in a pale of wet sandy soil, that sits in a spot out doors, where there's nothing but big time shaded ambient light. The temps during this time have hovered in mid 70s during the day, mid 50s at night...and a couple high 40s nights as well. Evening humidity here is typically 80-85%. So I went out today, hand shovel in hand, dug each cut out, and found that all of the four had been busy shooting roots for at least the last several days. Just as the clones I mentioned couple pages back that sat in water...I did nothing but, well...stick'm in a corner and walk away. And yes! Four more cuts have been dropped into that bucket of cold moist sand to be left alone in that super shady location. lol...in the meantime I'll prolly end up losing a cut or two or more inside where I actually effort for success. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lou! Hey buddy! How's life? I wanted to give a quick update on my clones, I have a few questions to go along with as well. Four of the six have rooted, and have begun to poke through the little rw cubes. The other two seem to have started rooting but are a little behind. The leaves on the two oldest cuttings are beginning to yellow, and the same thing is happening to the LA Con. Could it be N deficiency, or is it just time for them to leave the dome? I'm thinking probably a combination. ![]() What do you think? I was also wondering when it is time to start feeding the little ones? Once they show roots? Once they start vertical growth? I appreciate the help man, I hope you're well. ![]()

8 days its the norm when everything is done well. Of course, you got one more thing that a lots of new growers don't have yet, patients. I can't emphasize this enough, for all the new growers. [Leave the dome along, stop opening it so often, let nature have a chance to do her thing]. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | nigel, I'll take a shot in the dark here and speculate that the reason you lost some of the clones is, cause they are having too much light over them. Bear with me now. If the leaves get enough light from top, the plant puts all its effort to manufacture sugars to grow more leaves, thus its not putting much into growing a root. And that will mean the clone stem might be sitting in a wet cup of soil much longer than a week, rotting away instead of growing roots to look for water. Some times when I want to pick the temp in the tub I place it under the lights for a day or two and I have noticed that those clones take longer to grab root, as much as 10 days instead the usual 7. I bet if you place your clone box in a warm place with out direct light over it, you'll have better luck. Doesn't hurt to try. ![]()

Yes, you guessed right, they need some N, and time for them to join the population. Once you see roots and you take them off the dome, transplant and feed them. Treat them like adult plants not like seedlings. Rock wool has nothing in it, just like my overused pro-mix, and those clones have adult leaves, so they need to be fed as soon as they out of the dome. I try to take mine out when the cups are dry so I can water them right when I put them under the veg lights. They really perk up and try to reach the sun. ![]() ps: Awesome shot on those roots man.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think your right. lol lost 4 more to ironically; to drying out. Leaving two. They had their first drink yesterday and are still perky. fingers crossed. Cannot raise lights much higher at the moment. Before i start cloning in earnest, i have to get shorter flouros and mount them in fridge lid for an extra foot. 2 / 3 of the seedlings have gone bush or to fairyland, the rest are competing for a space at the training academy. Fairyland is pruned back and tied down ripening, so space there too. Will never let a grow get that big again lol. Thanks again for your help Lou. best wishes nigel

If you try doing it this way, have good temps and rh and still fail, then you are doing something wrong with the clone or cutting process. My new batch is kicking along.. check these out... The first group is over 2 week olds, the second is 8 days.
