![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | To cover some ground that you've already gone over in other lessons, I was hoping you could clear up my confusion confused about what do regarding "direct" light. The most feasible place for me to grow is a rudimentary grow box with flourescent bulbs. If the bulbs aren't on, they will be in the dark. Is it more problematic to have lights on or to leave 'em in the dark for several days? I'm not sure I'm getting the concept. Also, one other question...are your containers virtually air tight for the 48 hours? I realize they aren't vacuum sealed, of course, but is the idea to seal the boxes up? You know...like would tape be useful...or is that unnecessary? I ask as some of the lower branches on my grow are showing third nodes...the time is approaching!

Direct light will be, when you have the lights directly over the dome. In your case I would try to give them some light with side instalation, not over them. You can also put paper on top so the light doesn't hit the clones directly. Until they root. No, my tubs are not vacuum tight but yes, they're petty much air tight. For regular clones is not necessary to vacuum seal the tub, but when you need to elevate humidity close to 100% like I'm trying to do with the "top" that I cloned in Chapter III, I use plastic wrap and I tape the lip of the bucket so its completely air tight. I do not want any fresh air entering yet. The red arrows on the pick represent direct light, and the blue ones indirect. If you noticed also, the right side of my clone tub its covered with a white piece of paper, and that is cause I want to diffuse the direct light and make it indirect. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks so much for the explanation, Lou Cypher. Over the weekend, I went out and bought one of those "clear" plastic tubs...Maybe I'll put white paper over it. My "grow box" is not set up for side lighting so the flourescents would be over the box...they are retractable, however so they wouldn't be "right" over the clones...probably 2 or so feet but it sounds like the paper would help diffuse the light. Great idea!.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I open the bucket today first time, and it looks beautiful. Nice healthy green erected looking for light. I left it for 1/2 hr out to breath some fresh air, and I cover the bucket again. I plan to do this every two days increasing by one hr the time the bucket is uncovered. If it can stand by itself for over two hrs, it will go under the lights to begin vegging. I included a pick of the clones we cut from the mom that we took this top. They're healthy and green also, and they should be rooted by end of this week. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lou - I came here because you're the man when it comes to cloning I had a quick question, this is my first time using soil and clones as well, and I have successfully moved rooted clones in rockwool cubes into solo cups w/ soil. They've been growing there for a week and a half, and I was just wondering how long before I should transplant them to my 5 gal buckets? I'm not sure how long it will take for that nice rootball you have in some of your pics to form... Here's a few pics of the babes, I think they're about ready to be transferred eh? Thanks!Dankers

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | dankers, man I love that little grow room of yours. Its so well set up, that is what I call, homegrown. ![]() I'm assuming that they already had roots when you transplant them in to the solo cups, so by now definitely that cup is full of roots. (thats the reason that I use clear cups) One thing I would suggest though is to put them in a smaller than 5 gal pot for a little time, they will push more growth faster. If you don't have smaller pots and you have to plant them in 5 gal watch your watering schedule. I like the way those clones look man, very adult, they'll grow fast to nice plants. ![]()
