King, your RH has to be around 85-90% for successful rooting, anything lower will stall the cutting long enough that the leaves will die before roots appear.
You have to do something to bring it up, maybe a cup of water in the tub with them or a wet towel.
Definitely a bigger tub will help keep RH higher for longer time than a small plastic bag.

I got a cheapo themometer... I don't trust it on the humidity side! I'll try putting them in a small tub.

Been cloning a long time and this works as well, but quicker than Air-Layering.

Clone tub is 12" tall x 14" deep x 24" long.
Holds 21 cups/clones.

I read earlier in the thread about controlling the temp in the room and thought it would be easier for me to control the temp in a cabinet.
I put the heater in there and played with the temp control until I got 85f and 90rh.
They are under 4' florescents, one grow tube and one regular.
I used Pro-mix (bx).

It takes about 1/2 hour for the tub to hit the right temp/rh with that heater in there

For the first 5-6 days I didn't use any paper to block the direct light. My cab is painted flat white of I do get some indirect light through the sides so next time I do this I will use paper from day one and see if there was a difference.

Used 2 types of Indica, half of each batch were dipped in rooting powder and the other half in gel.

I started last Sunday night and saw my first root today, Sunday morning. So call that less than a week

At 14 days I have all but 3 showing roots. (One more just showed on day 17)
My larger group did better than the smaller group overall.
Within each group the gel(Rootech) worked better than the powder(Root Burst, sample from store). The gel led by 2-3 days over the powder.

I am now just waiting on the last two. They are from the slower/smaller group.

Greetings,

I always found that the powders Rootone would always fall away upon pushing the cutting into the soil.. Now I use Dip n Gro a liquid rooting hormome. Let cutting sit in the mixed solution (small amout of concentrate added to measure cup to line and add water to the 10x line) for a few seconds then plant.
Using Lou's method i've had great success and am very happy to now get well rooted clones instead of the "whimpy lookin maybe this one will survive kind of clones" I was getting before. I do use a small heat mat under my tub because I don't have floors that are 74* I wish I did than my feet would always be warm..

On a side note, Lou ... I cut 7 more clones this morning a Blueberry that I pinched the top than LST'd a couple of weeks ago I removed 3 branches of undergrowth and another Blueberry that I topped and a Bubblegum that I topped both of these tops will be new moms. The lowers of each (not the LST'd BB) are still growing out for another week or so then i'll cut them for clones. Now i'm over my limit but, my friend says the rule applies to rooted clones being 18 allowed lol .. I sad Ok then in 14 days i'll be over my limit

xyz, thanks for reporting on the results, and on the experiment of cloning solutions.
Now that I found a hydro shop that I can trust, I think I'll get me some gel, it does have some good things in it, that helps with rooting.

Camper, I knew you couldn't keep your hands off the BB's.

Cloning is addictive thats for sure, but what a wonderful way to always have girls in the grow room.
I guess I did create a cloning monster.

pic 2 to be exiled to fairyland
pic 3 new clones. 5 strains
pic 4 this mother gave 5 clones, more to come
pic 5 a peat brick i found
pic 6 after soaking, worked this thru soil to get nice texture and moisture

With all of you "monsters" out there starting jungles of clones, I don't think they're selling too many seeds lately.

Lou, but i'm gonna post a pic of my latest BB & BG ( "G" looks like a "6" ) cuttings in the Chamber (54qt. storage tub) today is the first time opened since putting them in. The "48" hour mark. The two in there marked as "Tops" will become new mothers.
This is the second set of cuttings (first were 6-ak47) i've done now in this tub now

Clones look lovely man, I know the BB is your Blueberry's but what is the BG, BubbleGum?
