Lou...they were on the first watering when I abused them (straight RO water pH'd to 6.0). Last night I fed them a half strength veg formula. They actually look very healthy, no yellowing at all. This might be the way I end up going...I have a smallish room that I can control humidity very precisely in with a fogger so I could theoretically use just enough humidity to prevent wilting and then ease it lower over time to harden them off...and that number appears to be lower for coco than rapid rooters (although from a statistics point of view my sample size so far is too small to draw any real conclusion).

My other clones are out of the humidity dome and showing no signs of wilt although the roots are not poking out of the rapid rooters yet and there is some slight yellowing on some of the clones. Do you feel it is important to get them out once they can stand on their own, or is a little extra time in the dome beneficial?

And for the record I would recommend anyone just starting cloning should follow the Lou method. It is easy and reliable. Other methods may work and may suit certain growing styles better...but there is more voodoo involved in other methods and failure is much more likely...including coco without a humidity dome.

Thank you again Lou.

nigel, thats correct buddy.

After the main stem its been cut the plant will split its energy and treat those two new tops as main stems.

Here are couple of picks of a plant that was topped.
AK 48 at 6th week of veg, topped over the 6th node.

1) 2 weeks after been topped
2) after 55 days flowering

On the first pick you can clearly see where the plant was cut and the two tops after the split.
The other two tops are the node bellow the cut.

Those two other tops will never be "main" tops as you see at the end of harvest, they're secondary brunches.

Hey Sam

I knew those coco's will make it, it seems the media keeps enough moisture to keep them standing.

When they wilt under the lights is because they have no roots yet, the light makes the stem wanting food and water, and when nothing comes up it wilts.

The ones in the dome, if they're not wilting with out the lid, they should be ready to get them out of there.

I do keep mines for couple of days on top of a 1" layer of perlite that I have at the bottom of my tub though, until I see some roots coming out from the plug, and then I transplanted directly to their last house and under the lights.

Some times I might see one or two wilting a bit under the lights on the first day, but I leave them along and in two days they are up and growing.

Appreciate the effort.

It certainly is an interesting thing, this genetic differences within plants.

The plant knows what the best smoke is and puts its efforts there.

I am trying this, doing an early chop on the secondary growth; putting all the finish into the tops. [pic 1 - miss crinkle leaf] best top up mesh, 3 secondaries horizontal.

Look at our girls grow Lou, hibiscus pics 2 and 3, mutoids pic 4.

pic 5 is Norton playing with tonights harvest; 'runticus'.

My clones have suffered from cold and my mother visiting, but still going. New accomodation opens for them and their truncated mothers this week, so that will make it easier than a 'cave under a pile of furniture. lol

'Clonal drift of wheat rust'. Wheat season starts in North, as does it's disease rust. As the wheat season moves South, so does the rust.

But because of clonal drift, the rust at the end of the season down South, is totally different than its parent up North. It lacks the ability to survive winter and ceases to exist

The rust essentially evolves into a deadend each year. Has to start it's reincarnation again in the North each year. lol nigel

would taking clones from the bottom most branches that are only like 4-5 inches long with 3 nodes root? I just attempted to take 3 clones from a Blue Venom Fem plant but did not have any rooting hormone.. I put 2 in FFHF soil in cut off cups and 1 in a Jiffy pellet.. the 2 in the cups are covered with cut off 2 liter soda bottles turned upside down and the jiffy pellet one is covered w/ a ziplock baggie for humidity.. All three are under a single 26w cfl and on a heat pad on low.. What are the chances the clones will root? They are about 4-5 inches long.. I didnt feel confident about taking the other longer branches for clones as I did not have any rooting hormone and I only have 4-5 good bud branches on the plant..

You sure did nigel.

cancer, there are couple of people that posted their success in cloning with out any rooting powders/gels so I'll say yes, there is a good chance for them to root.
Keep RH as high as you can.

Thanks noobe.
No I haven't done Blueberry but couple of guys in here did and if I remember well, not a difficult strain to clone.
Give it a try and let us know, we here if you need a hand.
