i baught the pack of rockwool cubes from the hydroponic shop and the guy told me to soak the cubes for a couple hours with 5.5-6 ph so i did and all 30 of my clones died, i used the powder they sold me and did everything he said and they all died and never rooted at all. what did i do wrong? was i suposed to soak the cubes or leave them dry when i put the clone in? or is rockwool the wrong stuff to use for cloning?

You need 80 more like 90% humidity and less light, that makes the clones develop roots. Take a look at Lou's Cloning Pictorial Guide.

![]() | ive taken a look at lous guide and it seems simple but he doesnt use rockwool which i am thinking i made a mistake of buying i should have went straight soil like lou, also i did have a dome and my humidity was in the 90s but i put them straight into my grow room which at the time was going on 24/0 maybe that was my mistake but could that have alone affected my clones to all die?

What Alleycat does with his rockwool is he soaks it with B'Cuzz root stimulator, no ph I believe. Those that do soak rockwool shake the excess water out and often don't use the pre-made holes. I'm a soil man for cloning myself.

![]() ![]() | Hmmm Can you give us a little more detail? More description about your cloning box/container. Tempature? Number of days before they died? What did they look like when they died? What did the stem look / feel like when they died? I've followed Lou's instructions and have created 40+ clones already. I use rockwool for my clones and have not had a single problem.

![]() | ok it took my clones about 2-3 weeks before the clones died, some died quicker then others and some were still really green after 3 weeks so i took those green ones out of the cubes and looked for roots and none of them even began to root so i ditched them all after 3 weeks because something should have hapened by then. also the clones were kinda black on the leaves and brown and the majority just went realy yellow and died, the stems were like soggy and rotten when they died and i never watered the cubes just the first time i soaked them before i put the clones in. also jacob what do you do to your cubes before you plant your clone into them?do you soak them or leave them dry? here are pictures of the stuff i used Last edited by ChronicAngel; 06-13-2009 at 07:43 AM..

OLA ChronicAngel Your statement of never watered the cubes, and the stems sogggy seam to contrdict each other.... Where were they getting their water? Many people here clone to Rockwool, myself included, with no issues. Or cloneing straight to soil work well also. there is something in your efforts you are not letting us know, We want you to succeed. ![]()

![]() ![]() | I get lazy soo I just take nutrients I use for my veging mothers to soak the rockwool. Its nutes ph'd at 5.6 and 800ppm TDS. I have let them soak for as little as 1 hour to as long as 36 hours. They all seem to work. I have a one gallon bucket that I fill up and then put my 30 rockwool in them and let them soak. Once I need them I take one give it a few flicks to get the excess water out. Basically if you pick a cube up and water stops dripping from it, give it a quick flick and you should be good. Oh and my clones sit in the same area as my mothers, so they get 24/0 lights. Well it seems like they were too wet, and it seems strange since you never water. What type of container did you use? Did you ever open the container to let them breath? Did the cubes sit on top of perlite? vermaculite? or did they just sit on top of the plastic container? Was there any water at the bottom of the container? Did you mist? if so, how often?
