Hey All, I've got an interesting idea here, and I need some advice... I have 5 plants growing from seed. 4 Barneys Phatt Fruity and one Dinafem White Widow. Two of the 4 Phatt Fruities are female, the other are TBD and the Widow should be fem. Anyway, I plan to move over the females into my flower cab next week and veg the crap out of them to fill my screen (3'x4') for a scrog. Anywho, I was thinking about practicing cloning on the males. I have a new buble cloner I am almost finished building and I would like to test it out on some non-essential plants. So, do males clone the same as females? Would it be worth my while, for the practice? I want to get the kinks ironed out before I use my next set of genetics... Thanks!

![]() ![]() | Unless you are going to collect pollen I would just kill the males. Cloning is honestly pretty easy once you get it down. I use rockwool, Clone X cutting hormone gel, some CFL's and water. I get approx 80% success rate. Sometimes better. Just cut off a 2 inch or longer tip (make sure it has at least one node that you can trim and dip in the gel). I re-cut my cutting under water at a 45 degree angle in order to reduce chance of air bubbles forming in the cut. Dip it into the rooting hormone and slide it into a rockwool cube that has been presoaked (but not sopping wet). Once I am done I put a dome over my rockwool tray put it under the CFL's and pretty much ignore them for 2 or 3 days. As long as the humidity is high under the dome you do not need to water. In fact I believe that as the rockwool dries it encourages root growth. Normally the cuttings will be rooted enough to transplant in 7-12 days.
