| the plant im trying to clone from was taken from an outside crop 3 weeks after i planted it.i brought the plant indoors and placed it in a 3 gallon planter and have had it on 24hr light for the last 2 months.every cutting i take dies.sometimes it dries up,sometimes it wilts till it curls and the very end of the stem will be shriveled and purple. a.i use 3" rockwool cubes b.i use clon ex gel rooting hormone c.i sometimes use a dome(have a digital hygrometer so all climate cond. are ok) d.i have 20 20watt flouros(one cool white the other warm white) e.the light is on 24hrs 1.how moist is the cube supposed to be 2.how hot is too hot for clones 3.what can i do to increase my chances of healhty clones thanks for any help..... | ||

Don't watter everytime or your clone will have no reason to root. Your rooting hormone is nice, i have the same one and results are about 85% in soil, and 90% in rockwool, without a dome or florus... 2- I believe temperature should be around 75º, but i don't worrie to much about this, just make shure they have a nice soft temperature, nothing extreme. 3- Bigger clones tend to have bigger probablities of success. Just pick some good branches with at least 3/4 nodes, clear the excess leaves (lower nodes) dip the lower nodes in clonex and stick then in rockwool or soil. Before cloning, make shure to starv your plant with Nitrogen, and only feed her after cloning, since N enibits rooting; Do not use ferts, expecially high nitrogen ones to feed your clones, before they root. Do not forget you cannot use the rockwool cubes right away, they should be in a low PH solution for 24 hours before being used! Keep us informed... wolfman

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Moved to the Cloning Forum ![]() I also suggest checking out the aero cloner You can find it by doing a search here ![]() I personally feel it is the easiet to manage My very first use of it I got 100% results with less than prime clone cuttings I am on round two of it now and have roots after about 5 days on two of the new cuttings. | i stopped by a "grow store" and picked a 6" rockwool slab.i think the pre-drilled holes give too much play, but while i was there i asked a few quiestions and he mentioned something i hadnt heard yet and that was that i needed to pre soak for 24hrs because of the alkiline level of the rockwool.didnt know that, only heard you needed to soak it.so that brings me to my next quiestions: 1.do i completely submerge the rockwool 2.how much of the water do you leave in the cube after the 24hrs is up 3.can i pre-soak with a solution thanks for all the help......

If not just make shure to rotate the cube once in a while. 2- Remove all the excess watter, without messing with the cubes. 3- you can, but make shure it's a very soft one, and LOW N! wolfman

![]() | slow rollin... As an adenda, to answer Nº3, one should be able to check and correct PH to use a solution to pre-soak rockwoll, but one should be able to do it when using rockwoll anyway, so... wolfman
