![]() | A word of advice; at least a week before taking the cutting, cover the area you'll be cutting with black plastic or aluminium foil or something. It'll root better when the area is kept in the dark for some time. The next time I take clones I'll also put some soil inside the foil and spray the plant once a day, so with any luck she'll start rooting even before I make the cut. Works with many other plants, so why not with the herb? And I think the less hormone shiet you throw at your babies the less chance that you'll give yourself a chemical castration or something :P Hemp has a good survival instinct; you don't need to be a guru to get it to root ![]() (just kidding about the chemical castration)

| ![]() Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just gave me a great idea. I had no idea plants could be rooted while still on the stem. See if this sounds plausible. Take a 1" rockwool cube. Make a cut half way accross the top of the cube from top to bottom. Soak the cube in pH corrected water to compensate for slightly alkaline rockwool. Prepare area on stem to be rooted by lightly skuffing a one inch area with a sterile blade held perpendicular (as if to cut the stem strait across) around the circumference of the stem. Then paint stem with a clean paint brush dipped in rooting gel. Open the wetted rockwool cube, and wrap around stem, securing the rockwool snuggly by wrapping a couple of twist-ties around the cube, and wrapping a little piece of plastic wrap around the cube to maintain moisture. Take the wrap off once or twice a day and spray with fresh, pH corrected water to get oxygen to the roots. Take your cutting when you see little root tips starting to poke out the cube, and place in soil, hydro, or aeroponic unit, and feed as normal. If this works, (and I've never heard of anybody doing it this way) It could mean rooting clones with near 100 percent success, and with little effort. August 24, 2000 Booganja | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You guys are too funny Yea Areo-cloning ![]() That's pretty much it, success rates are reported to be much higher since the potential cutting is still attached to teh mother LB

| Seriuosly? I have been reading 2 hours a day about the cloning process and this comes along. Doobious have you attempted this cloning method? If this works I would feel much better going this direction instead of waiting untill flowering only to find out that I have no good clones and not 1 seed. | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Air layer cloning is an very old propogation method used on a lot of different plants ... sucess rates are quite high for this method from what I have seen ... very close to if not 100% I have been using a cheapo aerocloner for a couple of months now and it is by far the easiest for me .... Just set em and forget em ![]() I currently have 7 clones going now and have just seen the first roots popping out after 5 days of growth. Can't get much easier than that .... Check out the links in the Areoponics forum about this .... A tupperware container, plastic tubing, an air pump and an air stone is all you need! I had old fish tank stuff that worked quite nicely for my test unit ... I am in the process of building a bigger one to hold more clones ![]() Although the air layering is a nice method as well ... just a lot of handling the plant. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | LOL!!! yeah I did I was building the unit one day and that infomercial was on and I just sat there and chuckled! How fitting I thought! The roots from the previuosly reported clones have just exploded out I think I am at 5 out of 6 developing roots already ... just one more to go in about a week ... I did nothing but take the cutting apply some roottone and stick it in there ... then BAM! rootsWhile the air layer cloning is a very proven method it is cumbersome and a little more difficult IMHO then the Aero Cloning way ... But hey to each his own ...just don't write it off until you at least give it a shot ... I have tried several ways to clone and this is by far the easiest! LB
