![]() | Hi Everybody! I'm back -- and I'm still bad. My lil Princess is ready for cloning, and I'm stumped (!). Could someone take a bit of time and answer some questions? I'd be most grateful. 1. In the book Medical Marijuana, they describe the cloning process, and they suggest that you take a cutting of two nodes' length, leaving at least a set of two leaves on the remainder of the branch from which you take the clone, and that you then snip off the bottom two leaves, leaving just the top leaf node. Then you snip these 2 leaves across the tips so that all you have left is a "stalk" with two leaves at the top that are no longer pointed but are cut across. Looks sorta like watercress, if you can dig it. Comprende? THEN: You're supposed to pare or shave your clone cutting around the bottom, like some people shave or peel a carrot (only just at the bottom where the roots will be). Anyone in Overgrow tried/agree with this????? Also, can anyone suggest where I can get rooting powder/hormone? I went to Wal-Mart and saw MiracleGro starter and Shultz's starter. Is this what I want? It's liquid, and the schultz stuff says it has B-1 and 3 growth hormones. Could I just put a capful in a gal of water and pop my clone into this and expect roots? I'm an ignorant newbie, and I'm really, really nervous about f'ing up my lil Princess. Feed me. Thanx in advance. [This message has been edited by DikkiBrd (edited October 15, 2000).]

![]() | Dikkibird... I suggest you use the best cloning solution in the industry. If you ask your local hydro shop what that is, they will probably say "Olivia's". I have the brochure from Olivia's here in my hand... should I scan it for YOU? Hmmm. hehe ok here it is... http://www.geocities.com/canine420/m...re_outside.jpg http://www.geocities.com/canine420/m...ure_inside.jpg K9 [This message has been edited by InsaneK9 (edited October 15, 2000).]

![]() | Thanks, K9 -- I appreciate your effort. I hope everyone saves these jpg's. I wonder if Olivia's exotic . . . if it's hard to find? They busted the best hydro store in my state (go figure -- it's an election year, unfortunately), but there's one about 60 mi. away. That label has ALOT of good info on it. I'm going to look for the gel. It looks easiest and least risky. Again -- Thanks. [I like your pics in the pics forum. 10_15.jpg, with the purple underside, is BEAUTIFUL. ![]() | BTW: Does anyone have an opinion on the idea of scraping the very bottom of the clone -- lightly, just removing the skin? The only place I've seen this practice is in the book, Medical Marijuana, by Todd McCormack (not Marijuana Growers Guide, by Ed Rosenthal).

![]() | You're welcome Dikkibird. If you can't find a local shop or feel ok with buying over the net.... http://www.hydroponics.net/_scripts/...s.asp?i=351003 K9 [This message has been edited by InsaneK9 (edited October 16, 2000).]

![]() | I've used Olivia's cloning solution and was not impressed. I couldn't tell the difference between using it and using nothing at all. I think Olivia has a gel which might be better. A lot of people swear by clonex. Onother thing, Olivia's has an expiration date of about a year and it's a big bottle. No way your going to use it all up in a year unless you have a clone factory. Go with a gel! Another thing, all you need is about a 3" piece of stem wit a growing tip on it. Don't scrape it just cut it off and remove all the larger leaves. Should root in a week or so.

![]() | Have to agree, i use Clonex and work great for clones! scraping the very bottom of the clone will only increase the probability of infection, a clean cut is all you need! wolf

![]() | well, thanks, wolfman -- just one warning against scraping and i guess i won't do that. i've heard alot about infection/contamination lately. I've found Olivia's cloning GEL -- I've gotta drive 120 mi. for it, so I hope it's superb stuff! Thanx Skywalker. [This message has been edited by DikkiBrd (edited October 18, 2000).]
