Question
permalink

We recently received 2 clones from another person and he said to give them a turkey baster full of cloning solution in water in the AM and one in the PM. He also took small scissors and "ruffed" up the stem at the bottom and said it would root faster. Well, the little babies died, the stems turned brown and slimey, where it was in the rockwool. So now we are trying to clone off of our plants before putting them into the bloom room. So my question is this: Do we keep the rockwool that moist. And what is enough vs not enough moisture. We are doing this for medical mj and neither one of us have a "green thumb". The plants going into bloom were partially grown for us, so we didn't go through the cloning - rooting stages.

hi dude
the reason your stems went slimey an black is cos the r/w
was to wet,i keep mine moist to touch and around 85% humidity,21-25 celcius in the propagator and not to much light 15 watts is ample 24/7 first 3 days then 20/4 till rooted, you will probably need to remoisten every other day.
my preference is to use a sharp blade nice clean cuts.
keep on tokin QHC.

Hey thanks for that. I figured that what the guy was telling us was not exactly correct. One thing I am finding out is that everyone has there own ideas and you just have to find out what works best for you. I sure hate the idea of loosing the clones to expermentation tho. I thought if it was a "weed" it would just be able to do it's own thing. But then I can't grow already planted plants from the store either. Our next cloning we are going to try the method described by Mr. Cancelled posted on 09-01-00. Thanks Di
