grow plugs
permalink

Has anyone tried those little brown grow plugs for cloning yet. They are round and small and cost about 10 bucks for 50 of them. Ther're made up of some peat moss and tree bark. Speaking from over 100 succesful clones now, they freaking rock. My average is 4 days before roots are shooting out everywere, on the faster side i have had good solid roots in as little as three days, and who ever uses olivias cloning gel, Olivia is ripping your little butt off, that shiat does nothing, spit on your cuttings and save yourself 10 bucks, it will give roots faster. Actualy root tech is by far the best gell I have ever used. Mind you all of my opinions are just that, and it is all relitive. But if you have ever wanted roots in three days just for something to brag to your friends about, then I suggest root tech, grow plugs, some kind of dome, and a couple of aqarium bulbs called blue actinics, they render 6500 k of true blue light, as it looks to the reef floor in the ocean through water. If you havnt ever seen this type of bulb lit before, it glows as blue as a black light is black. They come in lengths from 18 inches to 6 feet and even in a power compact 55 watt type. The blue light is key to strong roots. Just some friendly advice for you all.

i'm trying the grow plugs
permalink

yeah i got a bunch of those grow plugs today that when there is root formation u throw those babies in bigger cubes.. at least hat what i'm planning on... i did have a question about it though.. i put seeds in thte holes pointy side up and then i flushed the cubes in the propagatino tray with a 5.5 maybe a slight bit high pH water but i added small amounts of liquid organic fertilizers to it . like less than 1/2 the recommended dosage... is this gonna mess my seeds up and cause them not to sprout?.. they are chillin in trays under a humidity dome under flourescants... should i flush the plugs again to rinse out the nutrients???? it was a little bit of 3-3-3 formula and some 16-0-0//// any suggestions ?? i have a bunch more seeds so i could always just throw the plugs away and start over.. but i'd rather not have to...

Well personally I would never use anything except water on seeds. I dont think they need any nitrogen untill they are much bigger. I get about 90 % germanation rate with seeds using various soil-less mediiums like coco fiber and jiffy mix. Keep um warm and lots more will be female. Good luck.

I may be wronge but i have never read anywere that humidity or heat will produce a seedling to a female over a male. I think it is the gene of the seed that determine's that. Just a thought cuz if it was true what u r saying than everybody would do this and we all would only produce females.

"The growth of a male or female plant from seed, except for the predisposition in the gender chromosomes, also depends on various environmental factors. The environmental factors that influence gender are:

a higher nitrogen concentration will give more females.
a higher potassium concentration will give more males.
a higher humidity will give more females.
a lower temperature will give more females.
more blue light will give more females.
Fewer hours of light will give more females. It is important to start these changes at the three-pairs-of-leaves stage and continue for two or three weeks, before reverting to standard conditions. "

i'm still a little confused as to when i should put the grow plugs into the bigger rockwool cubes that i have.. i'm starting from seed and the little sprouts are roughly 3 inches tall... is it ready when the plugs have multiple roots coming out of the sides or just a couple? should it be root crazy?????? typically, how long from when the seed germinates in the plug till it is rooted to the point where it is time to transplant????????
