![]() | I read the cloning section in the growers guide. I've decided to clone using the ice chest ( cooler ) method. My question is, should I dip the clone in olivias before putting it in the cooler full of water, or just drop it right in the styrofoam? I think it would just wash away, but I wasn't sure because it is a gel. How often should I change the water? I'm using the bubble stone and pump so I have plenty of water movement and fresh oxygen. I also bought hormex ( " a concentrate of vitamines & hormones " ) It's supposed to stimulate plant growth. It has vitamine B-1 & growth hormones. Should I dip my cutting in it or add it to the water? I have dyna-grow liquid bloom 3-12-6. The guy at the hydro store said to add 1 tsp. per 5 gallons of water. I'm really not sure if he knew what he was talking about. But then he didn't know what I was cloning either : ! I think I'm going to try the vermiculite and pearlite method also, I have plenty of cuttings. I'm wondering what the success rate of cloning hydro is, compared to other methods. I have never grown anything hydroponicly, so I'm kind of nervous about it. I plan to do this today, so any sugestions or help would really put me ( a little ) at ease! thanks. ma

![]() | hey, im guessing you are going to add that stuff to the water in the cooler box, any ways, the neauts in the water should be ok, and if its got rooting hormones in it, then it will be fine. the gel is for plants going in soil or vermiculite etc. it stops air getting into the clones insides. b/c the cuttings are going straight into the water in the cool box, they will not have much of a chance of getting air into them. if you see what i mean. but basicly i dont think you would need the gel on, as you said it will prob be washed off. james ![]()

![]() | Every thing is going as expected, considering it's my first hydro growing experience, ( and I'm trying to do it with clones ) !! I have a big problem right now and this is a bad time to be having this problem, considering, #1, their already 13 days old,#2, I lost all but 4 within the first week, #3, they are starting to swell and develope nubs below the water line, and I know what that means,,, ROOTS!!! My problem is this bright blue line on the stems and some of the leaves that I left behind, it almost looks like mold but without the fuzzy stuff. If anybody can reccommend a fungicide I would be very thankful. I didn't know if I should put this post in hydro or here. Thanks everyone!
