Question

Okay, I have a plant at home that is about 4 inches tall and has about 5 sets of stems off the main stem. That plant is about 2 weeks old and was grown from seed.

My question is: What is the youngest (Or shortest) a plant can be before you take cuttings off of it?

Thanx

I am not sure, but it seems weird that you would have a 4" plant with 5 shoots off the main stem, but whatever.

Any shoot can be taken as a clone, but I like to have at least 5", preferably with one leaf that you can stripoff, clip below that node, and put that into your rooting medium. It is good to have this node under ground, since the roots will be able to grow from the auxillary meristem just above where the leaf joined the stem.

There is no defined age, but you want enough tissue to support itself while it isn't getting any nutrients (i.e. a couple leaves at the bottom that can yellow and die).

For soil about 6 weeks, for hydro i think about 3/4 weeks; maybe one of our Hydro experts can give us a hand in here...

Bigger/stronger clones root faster...
