![]() | Hi all, I have been seaching through all the boards, but of course, nothing seems to answer the questions I have in mind. I have two female plants that I put on 12/12 to determine their sex. Now that I know I have two girls out of five plants (killed the males already), I put them back into vegitative state. Now the problem I am having is that one of the girls does not seem to want to go back. She looks like garbage and all her fan leaves are dying. From what I read this is normal for a flowering plant. I know the plant was left a little too long on the 12/12, but these are my very first plants ever, and I wanted to be POSITIVE that they were the right sexes. So now of course, due to my lack of knowledge, I have backed myself into a slight corner. The plant is 6-7 weeks old now, and since she looks awful, I want to cut her branches back. I know in normal gardening, this is a good thing since the plant will grow back even thicker. To me, this sounds reasonable, since it is going to be a mother plant, and I want lots of places to cut from. There are quite a few buds on her, and I was wondering if I should at least cut them off, or can I cut enough to make some smaller clones out of them. I read that they may be slow to root since they are in fact, flowering. The other major factor that I believe to be causing problems was that I had the PH level way too low. I had it sitting between 5.8-6.0. I made the tedious task of pumping all the water out of the plants tubs, and setting the PH to 6.5, and redoing all the nutrients as well. I had read just last night that Wolfman made the mistake of having his PH too low awhile back, and running into problems, similar to my own. I just don't know if my girl looks awful since I have shocked her with putting her back into to veg state, or if the PH made a mess of her. Perhaps it is both things??? 1) Can I cut her back? 2) Should I at least cut off her buds where I can get at them, if cutting her way back is not an option? Her buds are not huge, and have white hairs sticking out all over. I put her back to veg state last week (6 days), but she does not seem to notice yet. 3) Is there anything else that I can possibly do to nurse her back to good health? 4) If it is alright to cut her back, can I at least try to make some clones out of the cuttings (plant is big enough), so there is no wasting? 5) What would you do if you put yourself into my precarious position? I know that I did a couple of really stupid things here, but like I said, I am a total newbie here. There are so many opinions,so many books that can make a newbie's head spin. I really thought that I was doing the right things, but I guess not. It darned near killed me to "off" my male plants last week, but I did not want the chance of pollen getting around here. 6) Just another quick question about lighting. I have a "mother room" where my two girls are at right now. They are sharing a 400 watt metal halight. I have a 1000watt metal halight, and was wondering if I should use this until they get large enough to be a real mother plant. Any comments and suggestions on how to best care for mother plants would be appreciated more then you know. Since these girls are my foundation, I want to care for them the best possible way that there is. Thanks everybody, I thank you for your time...

![]() | Thank you for the response. I noticed today that she is looking much better. I just hate feeling that I have to do something for them. I am just glad that I had read about PH levels on this forum earlier. It also makes sense to me about the clones probably not working out well. I just had to make sure. I see that the less you do for the plants, the better they seem to be. I appreciate you putting my mind at ease about it all. Oh yes, I am not a dude... ![]() Diana

![]() | I reckom you'll be all right. As she goes back into veg, her buds will stretch out, and look pig ugly. It'll get to the point where there will be a fower every inch or so, rather that 1 thousand every cm. I'd snip a few, thank her, smoke em; take good care of her, and I'll almost gaurantee she'll be giving u joy soon enough. rob
