Can I take clones 10 weeks into flower?
permalink

Hi all!

I'm approaching harvest on my indoor grow here, and about a week away from doing a transplant for my new outdoor grow.

I'm wondering if I'd be able to take some of the smaller side branches and root them for my outdoor grow. Or is this too late into flowering to take clones?

All replies appreciated!

Man... you can, but... it would probably take forever for them to root! I don't know...

Another option would be to harvest then reveg. Just leave a few growth tips on the main stalk, trim the root ball/mass and throw under 24hr low level lighting, just like cloning, only different.

Does that make any sence?

Thanks FewBS - I'm familiar with regeneration - the only problem is I'm pressed for time as is, once I harvest in 2 weeks my entire grow is being disassembled.

I would be taking these clones tomorrow after buying some fluoros and rooting hormones, so hopefully someone can let me know whether or not I'm wasting my time (and money!)

Hi guys!

I know I only posted this question like not even 12 hours ago but...

I was really hoping someone could enlighten me on this before I go spend (potentially wasted) money on fluoro's and rooting hormones...

Again - any and all replies appreciated.

I would say then: "Save your money."

No sence in starting things up if you have no place to put them!

Ahh but chico, he does have a place to put them... Err well nature does

SuperJ; I think that you'll probably get em to root, but its gonna take around 3 weeks, and you'll probably lose around half of them...

So take a bunch...

Just my thoughts...

Goodluck tho!

SuperJJ, go ahead and take your cuttings. Some plants will root more easily than others when in flowering, but do expect it to take longer for the roots to develop like was said above. I have a whose y' daddy clone that is just now really starting to develop roots, it has been 18 days since the cutting was taken from a flowering female. The root development is a lot slower and your clone will probably look sad for a while. Once it gets reverted to veg it will take off. I've seen your grow and I would want to keep a couple of those around too. Keep your light level low and on for at least 18/6... I'm sure you already figured that out though.

Thanks Chico - what afterburner said!

afterburner - Right on thanks! That's exactly what I was thinking so I'll take several cuttings and hope for the best. Can I start the clones in soil (it's unferted soil from my hydro store - lots of perlite)?

deimospmars - Thank you too! If it takes 3 weeks that's perfect - because my girls have 2 weeks of growing and I'm guessing about a week to dry!

P.S. I can't believe I'm asking this but... 18/6 or 24/0 for clones?

Also - these are my choices for rooting hormones:

Stim Root#1 Powder 100gr
Stim Root 125ml
Nutri Root-Rooting Gel 2oz
Root Max-Rooting Gel 50gr

Which do we think I should buy? They're all ~$10.

Thanks again guys, appreciate it!

My fault, I thought you said you where tearing down you growspace. At least that's what I got from 'disassemble'.
