Any detailed info on this procedure?
nothing else, except i try to fan out the roots, a nice potting soil with extra perlite will make a nice light mix and not squwiss the roots....

just use plain tap water in the res and remember to check the water level, from time to time.......

your MH will work fine just place them to the side....they require a low light intentisty, indirect light or flouro's work best......but you are right if i want them to root faster I give them just a little more light and higher temps

I built one, will they grow?

I went out on the 13th and got all the stuff to build my cloner. I came home and put it all together and filled it with water. Yesterday the 15th, I topped off the water, and tonight I put 18 clones in and placed them in my veg room under some floro's. I'll let you know what happens. I'll try to post a couple pics in a few days. I'll be off line untill about Sun. night....

Be Safe,
Thank you Daltron!!!

It may of been the quallity of the clone, I'm not sure what went wrong. I only had one out of 18 that started to root and it barely had anything at 14 days. I pulled the plug yesterday...Smoken

I would love some pics myself, as this method would save me time, energy, and looks to have a high succes rate. Actually, what I am specifically interested in is an approximation of "distance" between the bottom of the top pan holding your actuall clones, and the top of the water in the resevior pan (a good guess as to how to get a nicely controlled "wick dip" system running in my own estimation). I haven't yet gotten the materials, but would like to convert my basic cloning "dome" into this setup, as the tray holding the dome seems like it would do nicely if I could find a close approximate match for the second two trays. Also if you could give a good "advised" width, breadth, and depth of the pans used, just to give me a working idea. I don't need exact numbers of course, just a general geist of shape so I have a well mostiened medium with little fluxuation due to differing depths of areas staying moister than others. That is, of course, if you're willing to take the time to "ballpark" it for me.

On another note, I've been using Clonex and rockwool cubes for a few years. Would a rooting horomone help, hinder, not affect this setup? I ask because my first instinct would be to dip 'em in the stuff before placing them into perlite, and wouldn't want to lose a batch of clones due to ignorance. Thanks for keeping this post alive, as I personally am very glad I stumbled across this my first few days on these forums.

the resevior pan holds about 1 1/2 inches of water, which just touches the bottom of the wick pan

I still have a half bottle of Clonex and rooting gel that I used before the wick system......I keep them on hand because some strains are known to be hard to clone and for those; all the help you can get is a good thing......

.......I used them when I first started with this wick system. After I found that it works the same with or with out the gel and or clonex, I just stopped using them........if I kept better records I may find that the use of clonex or rooting gels might speed things up by a day or two......
