Thanks Karma, you've solved a little moral problem as I have kept the 5 males from my indoor grow out on the balcony for 3 weeks as I couldn't bear to trash them. One of them - Hamish - was really beautiful, see pic 1. But if they can be made into something useful, I have no qualms and they got the axe tonight. They were 3 weeks into flowering and hadn't burst their balls yet. If I've understood correctly I should dry them down a bit, so now they're hung up - Pic 2. I've understood one leaves the roots on drying female plants to get rid of some harsh smoking chlorophyll, and wasn't sure if it's better for this too: in the end I chopped them off. I'm assuming the ones with the most and fattest pollen pods will be the strongest. The big one on the right (Hamish... could you guess?) has almost no flowers yet, so I'll just take half of him and make the rest into a herbal smoking mixture. The rest have a lot of pods like in Pic 3: is this going to give it the kick it needs? Cheers, Whackmack | ||

...one of the boys actually did burst his balls, or a few of them, on the drying line this morning. Obviously left it a bit too late. Don't think it will be able to get upstairs to my big girls, but cut the offending shoots of and immersed them in water to stop any pollen flying. Think I'd better make that butter tonight! ... I made some butter. From 5 males in various stages of flower. Looks good: proof will be in the pudding. Someone mentioned making ghee for purer butter making: isn't that the ghee that's seperated in this process anyway? And the mucky layer below the green is perhaps the milk solids? Smell?! -- yea, just like kale or whatever, just like have you ever cooked kale or cabbage for 3 hours in your house?.... Can see how people go off it. But, ever an exponent of self-experimentation, I have now made up a tea with the greasy still slightly buttery remains: even though I put a teabag in with it, it looks and smells revolting.... Experiment half over: 5 cups of tea (filthy pale green) were poured and with the aid of fruit I just managed to slurp off the top fifth of each cup with all the butter. It may put me off butter for life. I hear Indians drink tea with butter (rancid butter!) If you never hear from me again, it's 'cause I've gone to talk to them about it. Mind you, 10 mins. on from drinking and my head's starting to shrink. Though from the smell of it I would say it's mildly emetic (puke-making!). After this, the cookies will seem like paradise. just made my first batch, the stink wasn't to potent at all, i used about 10 grams of premeau buds. used about 1/2 pound of butter is that right??? I let it boil for about 3 hours stiring every 15 min. THe smell was like spinach, nothing like weed really. It's sittin in the fridge right now and i noticed it changed colour. I cant keep my eyes off it. I wa in an accident like a month ago and I can't smoke anymore cause i damaged my popiteal artery in my leg. So i had to quit butts to. So this is perfect. Ill let youknow how it goes. | ||

Holy ****!!!!!!!!!!!! I got off the couch with my crutches this morning and hobbeled to the fridge. I removed the pot and took the lid off. WoW flouescent greeen butter just like everybody said. Gonna make some brownies today, I can't wait. ThANks for the recipie lets just hope it knocks me on my a$$ like you said it would. Ill let ya know how the brownies are | ||

...here seem to have a lot of bud to spare! Not one leaf from a female plant went into my butter and it kicks like a kangaroo. Hamish and his stocky bros certainly had something to offer. Mind you, I put prob. about 350 grams of a quarter dry material from 5 flowering males in there, with a pound of butter. Stems cut up and split open 'cause there's a lot of something in there -- just smell it. Your 10 grams of premium bud might give it as much kick as mine, though I guess that's the equivalent of ca. 40 g. frsh bud which may not make the butter very strong (better for doasge IMO). I'd just rather puff the bud and eat the boys 'cause it's obvious from this thread that most people's butter comes out too strong rather than too weak. I'd like to know if anyone has done any scientific studies on this butter, amazingly effective as it is simple, to see what's actually in it. Orally taken MJ is a completely different ball-game to smoked MJ. It has some similarities, period. The experiences outlined by many people in this thread seem to have more in common with another off-topic substance than with MJ. I have done some crude personal studies on the effects of eating the butter, and will present the details in the next few days. Hope Karma comes back to his/her thread, sure that would be a great help. Cheers, Whackmack P.S. You now have good reason, but I'd be interested to know if the sensation from the butter gives you an increased desire to smoke cigs or grass. | ||

I don't want to be sterile WackMack I'm trying to figure out what your question(s) are. I make butter with scraps because other than oil or hash there is not much to do with them. And of those three, butter is the easiest... unless you got some spare ether lying around. I also prefer to smoke it over eating. If you're not careful it can really whoop your ass. But you can listen to music for hours not moving and get lost in it when you eat butter. A pound seems like a lot to me, how did it turn out? Leave some specific questions and I will try to answer them. KP | ||

Im whipping up another batch of cannabutter using your recipe. Is it OK to strain through a papertowel or something instead of cheesecloth....? I mean its basically the same thing.... Right? I spliced the sheet of paper towel in half so now its only single ply. ![]() | ||
