I love cooking with the males, sooooooooooo much better than smoking them. I have smoked a trich covered fan leave and that killed my lungs after that i cook with all males and fan leaves.

Which reminds me that i have some cannabutter in the fridge......I have this craving for "muddy buddies" anyone ever had these? there rice chex with chocolate penutbutter stuff on them. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I worked something out on paper that might answer everyone's dilemma about how much bud to use to make budder. First off this is a calculation based on using good bud to make it, not scraps.


First I use a small scale and put, as honestly as I can, the amount of bud it takes to get me high. I crumble it like I would do in a bowl, look at it and make an honest assesment, will this much get me stoned? Too high? not high enough? If you have smoked enough of your weed you know how much gets you high, so measure the amount , this amount I call "1 smoking high" (or 1 SH) This is a variable figure. Some people get high on one hit, some smoke 2 grams, it depends on the person's tolerance, and the quality of the weed. So 1 SH is different almost all the time. You have to work out your current SH number.

I figure 1.5 tablespoons of butter will yeild 1 tbsp of "budder".

So, for 1 tbsp of finished product to yeild one "session" or stone, you need 1.5 tbsp butter + "1 smoking high" (1 sh)

You can get 5 1.5 segments out of a single stick of butter. So....

The formula is 5 SH to 1 stick of butter to yeild 5 hits of 1 tbsp each.

I am trying this tonight. I think this is a step in solving the "how much weed to butter" question that gets asked so often.

Some experimenting would be in order. If 1 SH does not get you high in butter form, try 2, 3 etc etc WAITING 1.5 HOURS between trys. I suggest one try a day. Let the tolerance settle some.

Either way, with this simple formula you should be able to custom make your own recipe taylored to your own personal tolerance/wedd quality.

Thanks for the thread KP. And hello to snwbdr; the 2007 thread posters; and those who posted in the years before.

This sounded like a wonderful method to reduce lost 'Budder.' But there were no follow up posts relating to process effectiveness. Are there any follow ups readers would like to post now?

Process summary:

1. Loosely wrap trim in a cheese cloth bag.
2. Bring water to a near boil with one or two ounces of Vodka or Everclear.
3. Add additional Vodka or Everclear. What happens with the THC if the Vodka boils away before you put in the butter? Does it bubble out and escape or does it float or what?
4. Add butter to melt and float on top of near-boiling water.
5. Cool in pan to avoid mixing layers or skim off Budder.

howdy scrub!

hmmm no update, but i would think the alcohol would alter the taste some?
and also almost unecessary, heat alone should extract the THC and all precious oils

also i was thinking about if you boil the mix dont leave the stove on high water boils at 212f and that excess heat could remove the thc if the mix got fo hot? reduce to simmer? thats my guess. can it get too hot? I wish i took more chemistry....maybe i will

I just made some cheesecake last night with my Cbutter and mmmm it was yummy. I cheated and used the jello instant one(if you smoke prior it tastes alot better

Thanks snwbdr. I don't want to make it complicated.

I've made KP's budder three times now. The first time I included popcorn bud; ground it in a Coffee Grinder; and low-boiled on the stove. Let's call that 10 in potency for comparison. The second time I put dry branches in a slow cooker overnight. That was a 5. The third time I put wet branches in a slow cooker overnight. That was a 3.

I'm sure the popcorn bud made a huge difference but I'm going for Coffee Grinder at low-boil for the next attempt.

Thought I'd add to this since I used the method on the thread, but I did something extra...

First I boiled down about 2 ounces of plant trim ( leaves/stems ) for about 3-4 hours in butter. Strained very fine with cheesecloth and then added about another 2 ounces of the airy/popcorn nuggets I deemed not worthy to smoke. Boiled that down for another 3-4 hours. Strained it and all the butter went into 1 box of brownie mix....


THAT SH*T KNOCKED ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I felt like I was on pain-killers or something, nooooo joooke!!!!

a bit TOO high........
