Add the shake to the honey oil. Note: use nice buds for this step, not the waste from the extraction steps. There is no point in adding that waste to your honey oil when you just went to all this trouble to remove it.

The ethanol extraction results in a higher yield than the hexane extraction, with very noticeable differences. The product of the ethanol extraction was much darker and ”dirty” smelling. Also, the product of the ethanol extraction was a harsher smoke. I followed up the ethanol extraction by extracting the cannibinoids from the ethanol hash with hexane. The resulting yield was the same as conducting the entire procedure with hexane, attributing the higher yield in the ethanol extraction to impurities.

pyro, this is perfect. The timing could not have been better, and your presentation was clear and easy to follow. I will try to repeat your procedure with A, B, and C Grade trimmings; A consists of small flowers and any heavily resinated bud leaves. B consists of bud leaves and heavily resinated fan leaves. C consists of everything else. i'll follow up later when I have everything collected. Thanks!

![]() | I know that there are a lot of people who are skeptical about using a chemical they may never have heard of to prepare something they are going to smoke. Time to dispell some myths: Hexane is one of the most common solvents used in the food industry. It is the solvent of choice used to prepare any fatty substances, due to ease of use, safety, purity of product, and high yields. Hexane is used to prepare cocoa butter, cooking oil, vanilla, and many other essential oils. It is also used to remove the fat from, and prepare, defatted flour and defatted soy. Many people (myself included) are skeptical of boardmembers who post statements without references. For these people, here are some references to get you going: "Hexane is manufactured to the high standards required by the food and extraction industry." --> from Shell's Datasheet on Hexane Extraction -->Available online at http://www.shellchemicals.com/chemic...tion_grade.pdf "Hexane is the extraction medium used for the bulk of canola oil which is sold into the commodity grocery chain market as well as to the food industry. " -->From "Canola Info" --> Available online at http://www.canolainfo.org/html/processing.html The Extraction Solvents in Food (Amendment) Regulations 1998 (A table with accpetable uses of hexane in the UK) http://www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si1998/19982257.htm

Yes, you can use either glass or metal, but do NOT use plastic. Hexane will solvate some plastics, leaving a plastic residue in your honey that you would not want to smoke. I use glass because I think it is easier to clean
