After a couple more bowls to ponder the flavor......... I would have to say it doesn't really taste like hippy-crack............. more of an oil taste, smooth, giving a slight burn to the nasal sinuses (Im pretty sure this is normal) making you want to sneeze.

I haven't been this baked for so many years.

I am usually happy with just a puff or two of good crystal bud.

But I think I overestimated the strength of this stuff.

I heated up a spoon on the stove (due to absense of glass pipe). And used a cut-open liter bottle as a funnel.

And I just put a dab on it. I coughed for several minutes. But a good kinda cough!

WOW!

Talk about a pure THC rush!

And it tastes just like I remember!

Whats the best way to take the oil? Like you say a direct flame destroys much wanted cannaboids so 'dabbing' the end of a joint into the oil isnt right? Would you need to hotknife it?

Ionaccel - Glad to hear it worked out well for you..........

Donk - Yes you should hotknife it, or a glass pipe with a flame on the glass under the oil, or a spoon with a flame under it is best. Mind you I coated several papers and rolled joints. Still does the trick, but not as efficiant.

Well...this morning, I only took one hit instead of last-nights two hits.

Baked.

Anyway....are there any solvents I SHOULD NOT use?.....to clean up and concentrate the smear of oil in my big glass bowl? 100% Ethanol? It isn't going to change or degrade the THC?

Of cource I would use more hexane,....but I haven't built a distiller yet!

P.S. ......I found it interesting how the evaporating hexane kept pushing the oil up the sides of the wall, despite my attempts to swirl the liquid and keep it at the bottom of the bowl. It just kept creeping up like it was alive!

Ionaccel, I would assume that as long as the solevent was residue free when evaporated and has a boiling point less than 120C then you are good to go. Heat will degrade the HONEY so the lowerr BP the better. I used 99 iso to collect the gold. I cannot comment on possible molecular changes due to solevents used, but I would immagine that as long as you don't introduce any other substances to the mix......... you will end up with HONEY + SOLVENT - SOLVENT = HONEY.

That oil looks amazingly cool. I understand the chemistry behind the extraction. Just one question. How on God's green earth (pun intended) do you smoke the oil? Is it really sticky to deal with? Is there a contraption to smoke it in?

...Contraption to smoke it?...yes, it a glass pipe that you heat indirectly to vaporize it...hard to get in my neighborhood.

Read up in posts...there are other techniques discribed. Spoon working for me.

best way is to hot knife. Put some butterknives on the stove element and turn to max. Meanwhile cut the bottom off a pop bottle for a "hoot collector". Take a needle, or paperclip similar and scrape up a "drop" (size of a drop of water or smaller) and place on a hot knife. Place knife under cut oped bottle and suck!

Be carefull not to let the hot oil drip onto the floor as it will not be easy to get out. A solevent will have to be used. Carefull not to discolor the linyl with the colovents (live and learn).

If you must, throw it in a bowl and light er up. Just try not to let the flame touch it. Suck on the pipe lightly enough so that the oil starts to bubble but is untouched by flame!

And yes this sstuff is stickey as hell! will get on everything if your not carefull and clean. Some iso kicken around is always handy to clean up your fingers and sheight.

I have seen a pic of a modified lighter somewhere. It is one of those torch lighters with a small piece of tin attached to it so that the tin is directly above the flame and bent into a spoon ( a spoon would also work!). Then simply load the tin bowl and light until the oil bubbles and smokes. A Pop bottle with the bottom cut out would work well to collect the hoot.

Couldn't find a pic of the lighter so I made one. Works great! small piece of tin bent and cut to fit, some "JB Weld" or other strong adhesive, and a torch lighter (I found this one at the park so if its yours, you know its put to good use

) Light er up and inhale through a pop bottle.
