![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Stick the hexane mixture out in your garage or in a very well ventilated area, it will evaporate at room temperature. For reagent grade hexanes it takes 4 - 8 hours. Put a fan over the bowl or plate and it goes even faster. Price is the main drawback, mind you it evaporates clean, no residue. Airedog

![]() | Dam guys i'm way new to the honey-oil world and am way excited to test it out. I'm a virgin grower haha, my first plant is under way just barely entering the vegetative state. I'm using all organics and treat my plants like they're my baby girls. I was wondering can you use any part of the plant that is crystaly for making the oil...or is just all about the shikty shake and left over budz?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi all, I used dried bud, shake and reagent grade hexane, purchased from a reliable chemical supply house to make some oil. Covered the ground up herb with about an inch of hexanes, in a mason jar, and let it stand for a few days. Next, the mixture was poured through a coffee filter, into a glass bowl and allowed to evaporate. Using a fan, most of the hexanes were evaporated within an hour, after 4 hours, the bowl was placed in a pyrex container full of boiling water and the rest of the hexanes were 'boiled' off. It was my understanding that as hexane is a non-polar solvent that the resulting oil would be light colored. The resulting oil is dark green and extremely tarry. To make it easier to handle, it's been mixed with kif. It packs a wallop and even experienced smokers treat it with respect. This is NOT somthing you smoke and then go to work on. I've attached a pic; the ball of oil and kif is 12 grams. Any thoughts on why I have such dark colored oil? Airedog

![]() ![]() ![]() | hmmmmmmm regent grade you say there airdog........... It should be less green IMO but probly as dark. Using th MG chems I have gotten a deep brown oil that when you smear on a paper resembles a deep looking honey. Truley amber in color with NO green! It does look like you extracted some chlorophyll but I cannot say why (unless your chems got contaminated with some iso or something?) Did you heat the mixture at all (dope and hexane together? ) It might begin to extract othere things as well with heat. did you have any troubles sourcing the regent grade??? and what kind of price (and what contry r u in?) Thanks

If it was just too long of extraction that caused this, the first quick batch should be potent and amber in color, while the long extraction should be greeny black (like yours) but without most of the caniboids (as it was already extracted in the first round). I may be way wrong but if your in to doing some testing........... even just on a couple g's....... I would love to know the outcome so when I do find some regent grade I dont have to. For the hexane you just look in the yellow pages for chems and go in and pick it up? no questions or hastles?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Appears to state that it is used to compound prescriptions. I looked for chemists and no there was no muss, no fuss. Hexane is a hazardous material in Canada though and there are restrictions on it's transportation. Airedog
