![]() ![]() ![]() | Brindie- I have always strained out all the plant matter- I use a sieve, then run it through cheesecloth. I didn't see any mention of that here- did you mix in all that green yuck?? No wonder they tasted terrible. I could be mistaken, of course....

![]() ![]() | hahaha i hope not I did that a few years ago and couldnt even eat it with a drink - it kinda tastes like what you think hay tastes like hehe Its really really bad when the leaf is all soggy in it - But yea - After 1 or 2 tries i figured a filter was needed After there through a strainer its not too bad - Its just a green gooey liquid - Make it into anything with butter/margerine in the recipe Great thread though brindie -

| I didn't strain it partly because I read a post from MamaBudz about making cannabutter and it didn't mention straining it. Also, I didn't really think it got hot enough to extract the THC, but I didn't want to cook it longer for fear of vaporizing it. I'd eat them if they tasted even worse if they gave a good buzz. 3hounds, my inspiration for doing this was your "overdose" thread in the Tiki. I want a buzz like that.I will strain next time, but I want to find out why they're not very potent. | ||

![]() ![]() | I cooked mine for 1/2 an hour. the butter is green as heck. Still not real potent and I used the leaves I cut of female budz. By the way I smoked those leaves and they do get you high, real high.

| HI folks... Yup, the green strained butter is canna budder... ANd with fresh weed you DO need to strain it... Since most of my recipe posts are over at Cheaptalk where the folks are working with dried cured product that doesn't often become a problem. In the case of fresh greens you want to let the greens cook in the oil, butter (clarified), or margarine ~ which I find works better for baking cookies becasue the cookies stay "fresher" longer, also we're kosher so not adding a milk product makes a difference and we can eat them all the time ~SO...for fresh greens the drill is a bit different... put the greens in the melted butter or margarine over a low heat and COVER TIGHTLY so the thC does not evaporate. ABout 20 minutes at a low heat shold do it. Let it cool, the thC will bond to the oils, and be removed from the plant matter (yeah does look like chopped spinach). Straining can be done through a strainer, and if you want to get the realy fine bits out then restraine the liquid through a coffee filter set in the strainer. The weed left over may have some value for use in cooking. Try a stew or tomato sauce or use as you would any herb like oregano or basil or parsley. Mixing the mj with parmaesan and olive oil and basil makes a nice strong pesto which is a great base for many italian dishes! Remember you will have to keep it refrigerated to keep it fresh Your cannabudder is BITTER... You'll need to offset that. But be careful because too much sugar in a recipe will ruin the recipe. I find making the recipe according to package and adding sweet topping does the trick ~ ie M&Ms to brownies, icing to cookies, etc. And keep in mind that eating MJ will give you a soporific (sleepy) body high as well. It is NOT like smoking so be careful. Hugz, Mama Budz | ||

| Thanks a lot Mamabudz. Now I know what to do next time. As far as the brownies I have now, do you think cooking them in the oven longer would help any? I was thinking of covering them tightly with aluminum foil to help keep THC from escaping and giving them 15 more minutes or so because they didn't get very hot the first time. | ||
