Dried Harvest Yield 6 Ounces

Thank you toocool4school and GeneK for your comments. And thank you to all thread readers and contributors.

The final dried yield, lightly trimmed and not counting trim was six ounces. That included 5.5 ounces at final harvest and an estimated .5 ounces 'lost but useable' from burn. This is my personal best to date.

I find that this method is the best for me. . . so far. If you got an idea or two from the thread then I am pleased. I had a great time doing it.

igrowbasil , if you try this method with success or failure, post a picture here, or, better yet, direct us to your Grow Journel.

Thank you.

This thread is the first time that I have tried this. I'm into my second grow with this technique. There, I've been lucky enough to shape eight plants into eight 'Candelabra'.

Update: Method Changes for Second Grow

I made the following training-related changes on my second grow using Chains and Sticks:
  • Started training at approximate 6 inches vice at 9 inches to reduce upward creep.
  • Placed plants in DWC Taller Right, Shorter Left vice Taller Left, Shorter Right to reduce taller plants overshadowing shorter.
  • Distributed plants at approximate 6 inch centers in the DWC vice 3 inch centers to reduce left bunching.

Replaced the bottom Support structure with a Chain as discussed in Post #22 of this thread.

Example: Big Bud, 28 Days Training, 56 Days Vegging

56 days from seed with 28 training days, the seedlings in the previous post look like this. These plants went into flower light cycle the previous night.

Those are some gorgeous plants, man! I think I'm going to scrap my wire in favour of something like this. It looks so much easier to handle throughout the whole process.

Keep track of the real tops

Thanks, Hidyn. Keep track of the tops. If the real plant top falls too far below its branch tops--let's say 2 inches--it will be lost.

I believe that we are putting Canabis' Axial Dominance statement to work; that is, we even vertical growth by controlling who's on top. We are pressing down plants not so that they can grow sideways--which they do to an extent. We are slowing that 'sideways' growth and encouraging the vertical growth of the lower branches. You end up with a flat-topped candlestick shape. ... At least that is what appears to be happening during the vegetation phase of training the Big Bud.

Whatever is happening, it is much easier to move branches by moving the restraints. I seldom miss the front to back support that an immobile screen provides.
