i have a few questions about s.c.i have never tried this method before and i am very interested in trying this ,first -q-can i do this to a plant already in flowering,if not when is the best time to do this??Q-2-can you do this with both a indica and sativa, and what one does it work best with??Q#3does your veg time have to be increased if you start this method early also do you bend the main cola as well, cuz in some pics i see it left alone and a small few i have seen it bent so what is best Q#4 does this stress the plant very much??all my plants are in flowering right now and would be willing to take a risk with 1 to see if this method can increase yeild

ive done this successfully with a few. what i did was take and pinch and twist a tiny bit at the main stem a few nodes from the top and prop it up, caues it will want to fall over on you. all you want to do is break the stem without tearing it up, youll hear it snap if you just pinch it good. soon after youll have a nice knot where you pinched it. and if you did it right you should see a dramatic increase in size in the rest of the plant.

with MJ, each branch is racing upwards in order to be the most likely to catch or release(male or female) pollen in the wind. the one thats highest will get the most energy put to it. when you supercrop, it slows that one down and lets all the others tops catch up. kinda hard to explain but youll see. if you do it to the highest top youll notice after a few days that the other tops are fillin out.

the best time to do it is about early to the middle of veg. this does stress the plant a bit, it will take it a week or two to recover fully and may add some time to your veg, but youll notice a big increase in nodes and bushiness. you dont want to do it too far into flowering as to not stress a hermie or something. if you do do it in flowering it will just add a few weeks to your flowering time as it recovers. but it may(im no expert) add some girth to your buds. try it towards the top of your highest cola, just pinch the stem till you hear a light snap, then prop it up if it cant support itself, and see what happens.

as far as sativa or indica you can do it to either, and i dont know which one takes it better. i would assume that they all react fairly similiar.

hope this helped....

it does check the plant top a little, but that is more than made up for by increased vigour in the laterals below the bend. also useful to keep plant low and compact.
my trials indicate the sativa is able to take rougher treatment and is more vigorous than the indicas, which seemed to have less fibrous stems and more sedate growth style.
do not know about in flower , looking forward to trying a few, hearing people's views. have fun. nigel

While in flower .... I try to keep my plants as stress-free as possible.

That means that I would not try supercropping, topping, or any training method other than string (fishing weights, etc). The plant wants to make flowers for you ... if you start damaging it's ability to transport water or collect light energy (even temporarily), you have permanently lowered your yield for that cycle.

Most, if not all, training (that involves possible damage) should be done in veg

well, I'm glad I'm sitting here reading and found this post. Learn something every time I start reading on here. O.K. now a question. My plant is 5wks in flower, I tied it down to get more light in the center of the plant. I'm planning on keeping this plant, sort of a mother plant for a while, at least until the others are ready.
Does doing this make sense, I don't have a clue what I'm doing growing anything. These are actually the first plants I've ever grown, no flowers, veggies, nada.

Hope everyone had enough to eat. Still suffering.

keeping a mother plant always makes if any thing were to happen to your grow you would still have somthing [like a whole other plant to make clones from]it can be like insurence [spelling?]

Jungle: You should look into LST instead. If you are trying to keep your plants smaller I would definately train them. No sense in harming your plant to get the lower branches taller. Look at pictures.

Smokie: few Q's for you. Do you plan on a reveg with the one in flower? Or do you plan on taking clones? Either way it will take a while to revert any cutting you take or after you harvest. Depending on what strain of the plant, it flower it could continue for a few more weeks. How old are your other plants?
