This example grow cabinet has eight Peak19 plants from seed at about 70 days vegetation and training. Lighting was changed to 11/13 yesterday. In five to ten days all males will be identified and removed. Remaining females will be redirected to take up remaining space. In photo 1, I traced the serpentine path of the front left plant. Probably one too many turns there but that is what happened.

![]() | Some of what i have read has said that determining sex and reducing lighting time to 12 hours should occur at about 30 days. You made the change at 70 days... why?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Good question, Insomniac. Even the seed producer says to start flowering of this strain when the plants show between four and seven nodes. So why wait until 60+ days? To fill the canopy. I left the plants in vegetation as long as it took to get a full, even canopy. I would have left them one more week but I wimped out. I hope that we will have a 50-50 ratio of male to female and a doubling of mass during flowering. That way, when I remove the males, the canopy will have room to double.

I built my chain and stick cage and manage to make it a little to big so its a tight fit in my closet... ( have spent 65 years not following directions and running into learning experiences because of it! (I just wrapped a chain round and round until I had 4 levels of chain, then, in order to get it in the closet, I had to cut off the 4 legs or stilts I had just added to give the cage height, so now the bottom row of chain is below the top of my soil filled pots! )My question may have been answered in one of your posts, but if so I missed it. Regarding bending stems and branches... do you go very easy on the bend or do you slightly crush the stems between your fingers so that they will make more acute or radical bends?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Insomniac, it appears that we are of the same generation; that is, unless you are counting double time at something. Anyway, I start bending the plants when they are very young. The younger the plant, the more flexible it is. I believe that the bending process is similar to LST. As such, LST threads can also be a source for answering your question. In LST the trainer selects the location they want to bend down from. This is the TRAINING FORCE location. Then they select a location lower on the trunk, maybe 1/2 way down, where they apply an equal and opposite COUNTER FORCE. LST'ers, I hope that I did you justice with this explanation. With Chains and Sticks, it is the same thing except the force is applied using parallel sticks that are held in place by the chains. The chains provide a line of holes that hold the sticks. I don't purposely crimp any stem. Inevitably there are one or two thick trunks that will crimp a little. This has not been a problem when it occurs. I press the plant either right or left by one chain link at a time. If I can go further I do. I want the plant to grow far enough above the training level that when I bend it it can be held back by the next stick and still have at least one leaf set above the stick. Be careful to not train the top more than two or so inches below any other branch. To do so could result in losing the top. Check out post #3. I attached the specific diagram to this post. Check out post #64. I attached a photo with the diagram to this post. I invite you to post a picture here when and if you can.

The example Peak19 strain in the first photo pair compares flower day 1 with flower day 16. There were eight gender unknown plants. Each plant had been trained to its own grow zone. Zones divided the cabinet into eight rectangles. Plants were trained from center to the left and center to the right. As three males were identified and removed, plants were redirected to the vacated space. The second photo was taken on flower day 16. The cabinet now holds five females and one gender unknown add-in. Most training has been removed. When training force was removed, the plants sprang up slightly and toward the center. Training will resume if necessary. Ok, I'll probably find it necessary.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 5 girls is a good score, nice solid daughters. I love it when they show themselves. My parents are visiting so garden shut up till tomorrow morning, mj withdrawal. I can smoke but no tinkering is hard lol Will be back into it tomorrow night, finish last grow and start next grow. Thanks for the pics, as usual gave me a few ideas. Glad you decided to try it out insomniac. You will find you can do things with sticks, that would just result in disaster with just string, wire or hooks. You can counteract any destructive force you are applying, with matching support. Have a nice day / night. nigel

Top Chain, 28": Four Training Sticks tune the canopy Left and Right. Middle Chain, 20": One Training Stick presses Left. Middle Chain, 12": Four Training Sticks press Front and Back. Bottom Chain, 4": Four Support Stick Pairs counter training force.
