![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | beautiful pictures as usual. The chain back to front and the corresponding holes along sides, are giving you a much firmer platform for early training, by the looks of it. It's not as if the plants just take our tinkering; they get bigger and fight back as they grow. lol nigel

You are right, Nigel, the short chains that span the front-to-back direction when combined with the peg-holes at the cabinet side seem to be the ticket for front/back training. Today, I decided to remove almost all sticks. I was even able to remove the Support level. Right now there are only two chains across the front and five Left/Right Training Sticks. There are six Back/Front Training Sticks.

![]() | In one of the many posts on this chain and stick thread I believe it was mentioned that the flowers should stick out of the holes at the top of the grid. My question is... why? Photosynthesis takes place in the leaves... and a fan might or should dry out the moisture in the flowers that could turn to mold... So why do the flowers have to be exposed to the light? Somehow I foresee that this was a stupid question ![]() | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Why do the flowers need the light to grow when the fan leaves are the 'solar panels' of the plant. That is one of the best questions that I have seen. I don't know. But, as always, I'm going to say what I think and invite others to comment as well. While the large fan leaves provide grow energy the buds also have leaves that collect light. If these bud leaves do not get light, the buds do not grow. So it is a balancing act. We do not want to deprive the bud leaves of light so we compromise and we 'tuck' the fan leaves down if they block the bud leaves. If you can, keep them both. If you cannot, tuck the fan leaf. If you cannot, cut the fan leaf. Although you probably cannot see it in the F20 photos, I spread the fan leaves of the 'Add-in' plant across several sticks just to get a little more of that precious light. Thank you Insomniac for a very good question. I hope others can address this more accurately.

The Vegetation Cabinet in the photos has seven female Peak19 clones; one male Peak19 clone; and nine Skunk #1 sprouts from seed. The clones have five weeks before the Grow Cabinet is available. Positioning, culling, training and male topping are the strategies being used. Training consists of constraining growth of taller plants to reduce impact on smaller. The Grow Cabinet in the photos has five female clones and one under-canopy female. The under-canopy female will be removed soon. Training consists of spreading out plant tops and evening their height.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | is that it would appear to me, that the plant uses the leaves in sequence. First the shade leaves provide the structure of the plant and energy throughout most of flowering. They then turn yellow and die, let the flower leaves / sugar leaves/ secondary leaves to kick in. For a large part of the grow the flowers are shaded, training or no training, so would not seem to need light until the primary shade leaves drop. Taking them off prematurely to expose flowers, generally has negative effects on the flowers which do not fill out. The point where the primary fan leaves become redundant, is generally where they stop being green and working. I think up till then, they are the primary energy source for the flower. Only after that do the flower leaves play a major role, filling bud and seeds out. Only guessing, but i am thinking the shade leaves are more important than the flowers for the first half of flowering? We will jst have to keep tinkering. As scrub said, there is a balance between the needs of each set of leaves, just got to find it. lol nigel.
