Training Force: The best that I can tell is that All training is the application of force to achieve a growth objective. Counter Force: There is a physics law that I might stretch that says that For every force applied there is an equal and oposite force. When Training Force is applied there must be some equal and opposite Counter Force or the plant will fall over. Soil may provide enough counter force to avoid this but not so with hydroponics. To train from right to left or from left to right across the grow cabinet, I provide Counter Force with what I call Support Sticks. The first photo shows the the training path that I have decided upon. Plants in front are trained to the left. Plants in back are trained to the right. This means that the front left and the back right plants will hit the cabinet side and will have to be turned to the back or to the front respectively. I'm spending considerable attention to ways to turn the corner. The rest of the photos show the current state of that effort.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the info on turning Scrub, detail is amazing as usual. Have removed most of the vertical training sticks, as she has settled into her new shape nicely. one's left are on main stem and an obstinate branch. Have left 90 % of horizontal sticks. These are necessary to hold main stems of skunkoid on that plane. She is pushing back. lol Not some little shoot, but a whole plant, so glad for the rigidity of the cage and overlapping sticks. Going to let the vertical growth of shoots go up ?? will play it by ear. I would like them to be about 4 internodes up before i put in another layer of stick action. Each resulting branch would have at least 4 laterals below the canopy formed, meaning potentially sending growth in 4 directions. Fill up canopy in no time. Need a bit of space between layers, so i can isolate individual shoots, there are heaps coming up. Want to send a couple outside cage to clone off; safety of strain in numbers. I am enjoying 'taking the stick' to skunkoid lol, looking forward to the tinker ahead. instant LST in a box. pic 1 - side shot pic2 - from above pic 3- shoots everywhere pic 4- update on the plants tied to a frame i showed you earlier in the thread. I LSTed what is poking up; i am beconing an auxin addict. lol best wishes nigel

Thanks for your input nigel and synax. Here are some training pictures. There are seven females in the Grow Cabinet. Four Peak19 and three Big Bud clones. The Peak19 have about a 13 day head start on flowering and have a three week shorter flower time than the Big Bud. The Training Stick in the second, third and fourth photos is placed between three buds in a fork. Although it looks like the stick presses forward, it actually presses to the rear. One plant at the back of the Vegetation Cabinet had to be pressed to the right.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | that is something to aspire to Scrub. You are coming at all angles with those sticks, amazing the control your getting. Can't get over how much force the plant pushes out. Skunkoid would break free without the 2 verticals and some of the central horizontal sticks. pics 1, 2 and 3 are a sequence over a week. I am starting to direct the vertical growth with a few training sticks and floating skewers. Trying to have them spread out. Then i will start bending a few. pic 4 is miss new toy, she has been in outdoors conditions, ie going into winter, she is aneamic but greening. going 12 / 12 shortly. got the soil wrong. it happens lol nigel

The color photos were taken this morning. They highlight the effect of training on one plant in the grow cabinet. The color reduced photos were taken a couple of hours later with HPS lights on. At that time I had considerably reduced the number of sticks. Remaining sticks are as follows: Level 4 (Top): 3 Level 3: 4 (1 additional on right for corner turning) Level 2: 7 (1 additonal on right for corner turning) Level 1: 3

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I sat and looked at the slots and chains on the end for a time. Being a sledge hammer and crowbar kin of guy; i always marvel at finesse and patience. Your pics gave me a few ideas about the coming tinker, was watching skunkoid as i potted up seedlings last night, [ i love the new space and the ability to move around] trying to envision the best way to send the leaders. looking forward to it. Off to the hardware and the bbq shop, still looking for the perfect stick. lol nigel

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nigel, the slots at the right side of the cabinet are/were used for the left-to-right separator sticks. You can see a diagram of this in Post #6. I'm leaning toward holes instead. With holes I can stuff a standard 2 foot training stick into the side of the cabinet. This should work for light position training toward the cabinet side. As you move toward the center, of course, the stick would bow considerably thus providing less actual force. I believe that I may not even need holes in the side. I secured a left-to-right separator stick by just weaving it. That is,
I did this a few minutes ago. It seemed to work well. Thanks for keeping with me. I really appreciate your comments and examples.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nigel, here are some photos of weaving the separator stick. I only think that we need to weave under the far left and far right to hold the stick. You don't even need the side chain, although I think that it helps. 3.1459 trained using a woven ScrOG screen. See Post #6 for a photo. Thanks, 3.1459. Photos were taken with HPS lighting. I removed the color in all but the last.
