![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think your right to incorporate the strain of the sticks into the equation. The sticks woven provide a certain amount of rigidity; the forces of the plants pushing, locks it in place. This can negate the actual use of the holes and slots to an extent. Allow training beyond the spaces they provide. The tinkering is underway on skunkoid. Camera went flat so did not get to show a few things i wanted, but here is what happened. Basically trained all the leaders to the outside of the cage. Growing some out of the cage for clones. pic 1 - training to outside, on right i have taken one along side, bottom right corner. pic 2- view from top. Middle of plant is opened up. The side of cage at bottom of pi faces walkway, i already have 2 branches outside cage on that side pic 3 - have bent the leaders 2 - 3 inches above primary layer of sticks. middle of pic is middle of plant, nicely opened up. Very fiddly but great fun. double points for getting 2 branches with one stick, bonus points for getting a tip out of cage. I have woven and poked down to positioning of individual leaves. couple of times i started somethin, only to have to pull it out and get a new agle to avoid damaging plant or get branch to where i wanted it. . The gap in the top of cage was for photos only; all maneuvering of branches was by sticks from the top and sides of cages. Fine work like teasing growing tips outside cage, was done with a bbq skewer. Did not break one shhot or leaf; though a few little tears with the point of the skewer. The new thin sticks are a dismantled garden craft thing, very strong yet with a bit of give. Each main leader has a stick to bend over, one to hold it down. Most direction and encouragement for them and smaller branches, is provided by floating training sticks, held loosely by the squares in the cage. Most of these will go once the branches are firm. No vertical sticks needed except 3 in place, and the temporary ones i used to position the branches. Hopeful outcome is a rush of new leaders in the middle, which i will send up. Cloning material and lateral development round the side. She is a bit locked up nute wise, but soil too moist to do much till tonight. Miss new toy is a woman, she has gone to flower on the daylight hours of porch life. lol Hopefully give her some vigour, explains why she stalled last weeks. enjoying this Scrub, best wishes nigel

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It looks like a wicker basket in there. Fascinating, captain. If you haven't already done so, it may be helpful to round the tip of the skewer to avoid the point catching. I rounded the tip of my vaporizer pick to avoid catching on things--mainly me. It makes a world of difference. They should not give sharp pointy objects to stoners.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | but we can have all the sticks we want. Wicker basket is apt, i needed the extra sticks though; skunkoid is a fighter. Also lessens the force i have to apply per stick by spreading the load. A lot of the sticks are floaters. Been influenced by Waveguides 'addling' thread, there are a lot of smaller branches that after pinning for a few days to get shaped; will go the right way when they are removed. Can influence branches a lot earlier than with std lst string and wire, changing is a simple matter of moving some sticks; no fiddly knots. there is no way that you could get a whole plant on one plane like this, achieve the horizontal position of branches with std lst. horizontal gives more even lateral growth than the bends of lst due to more even auxin delivery. have a great day. nigel

The grow path of a vegetating Big Bud clone is marked with an orange line in Photo 1. Two points are labelled 'A' and 'B'. Photo 2 is a close-up. Point 'B' is a natural 'Crimp'. The plant top turns down at 'B'. This forces the plant to turn up again to the right. To reduce the stress at point 'B' I pushed up the branch at point 'A'. To do that I had to angle a stick 45 degrees to hit the correct point to apply Training force. Photos 3 and 4 show an interesting line-up of branches.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Can you imagine a Bud Cube? I may have missed this, but I'm guessing that you are pulling them back in. Letting them pop out would be visually interesting but I guess that there would be a problem with growth through the small squares.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | my thought with taking a few branches outside cage, was to take a few clones. i could now, having access thru top, crop them that way lol, but had already trained them outside when i did that for the camera. will grow them out , take the clone, tuck the stump back into cage. take future clones from the forest of laterals coming up. need to have a good tinker, some of them are getting away on me lol nigel

Big Bud Clone #2 from previous posts has had additional training. I am attempting to stretch her across the cabinet from left to right. I added a chain length (about 1 1/2") to the right.
