Tripps, I think you and grass_hopper are correct. I single plant will only put out what it was designed to put out, if you will. However, our goal as growers is to get maximum output from what we put into the grow. There are styles of growing and things that happen that actually lower the output and some that increase the bud production. The trick is to get to know your strains. Grow a strain 5 or 6 or a dozen times and you will begin to learn exactlyu what that strain needs and when. Whether that be LST, Topping, FIM'ing, certain nute regimes, etc, is up to the grower to find out through trial and error. Not every plant will give you a pound every time you bend her over. If it were only that easy..................

was curious about how soon you could start LST; before 3rd internode just confused the poor things, resulted in bent plants and no lateral development.

facing growing tip away from light, gave laterals more light and got better growth. By the time the top had turned up to light, laterals were half as big as it.

pinning plant horizontally for a foot produces good results, but you have to plant to one side of pot, bend it over gradually by applying force in middle as well as top of plant to spread load. by the time the top was across the pot and allowed to grow upwards, the line of laterals behing it were up an going.

i love LST, gives you a sense of control. lol nigel

With topped plants, I think the oversized root system going into flower gives you an advantage, too.
I absolutely agree BUT in saying this I have found the odd strain that just does not like to be topped and does much better not. Over all I have found the colas are a bit smaller BUT not that much smaller than I wouldn't do it to most of my plants. The yield comparison iis, generally speaking, much more bud.
