Netpot LST
permalink

Hey Guys,
I tried something I never tried before and want to share it with you.. I used my netpots and twisties for LST. I tied them down right after placing them in the netpots and took this photo later that day. I had also topped these when they were still in the cloner, but I decided that tieing them over would allow me to spread them out more as the branches grew up... so here they are.
This is real simple. Tie the base of the plant to one side of the pot then tie the top over to the other side and you're done. I plan to tie out the tops when they get a little bigger and get some bushes going here

And the base of the plant tied to the opposite side

And this one has a little even canopy already, so I didn't tie it over, but I may tie those branches out when the get a little bigger.

OK, and that is the end of my tutorial.... Did I get an "A"?

Yep. they spread out on the tray like a carpet.. not as uniform though. But I've got a mango afgoo mother who's roots grew into the groove on the tray. They are about 1 foot long and look like a rope.
From here I place them into a eb-n-gro system and I don't know what the roots do after that.

Thats how I do it. I use soil, and drill holes in the tops of the 5 gallon buckets.
I use the twist ties that they use to strap toys and other things into the packaging. They are longer and better suited for larger diameter buckets, but same concept.
I don't mess around with weights and strings.

OK, so the plants have grown some and it's about time to do the 2nd round of tie down. I'll do it soon and post another photo.

I tied down some plants like this to their net pots in DWC buckets and it was way easy but if you don't remember to remove them later (or make them loose) it gets really hard to reach the base of the plant and the wire of the twist-ties starts strangling the branches as they grow. Now on my biggest plant(about a week from harvest) I have some big colas that had been tied down and now I'm afraid to mess with the ties because they're hard to get to and embedded really deep. It's reminds me of trees in the city growing through chain link fence. Just my
