SCROG Increase yield with height
permalink

Im currently designing a small cabinet for use with a scrog setup The space I've got is restricted to however wide or deep thing is I've got about 8ft of height. So my question is should I make the cab as tall as it can go or just as much as it needs? Is it possible to make taller cola's with more height?

Welcome to the GardensCure

Good Questions...
I would reccomend as much Headspace as can be had right from the start.
Much EZer to manage the air up thar also.
Your Colas from the screen up will be limited but with 2 Plants, you can fill a 12 Sq. Ft. Screen.
Most Scrogs are limited by the lights and air exchange, What are your plans thar?

Two plants can make a big scrog and more head room will make it easier in a number of ways.
Plus if you end up not needing all of the room up top, it can always be converted to a clone area or storage area.

scrog needs very little space.

8 feet ceiling?

why not split the room in half with a shelf?

two chambers 4 foot in height. and either 2 250w or 2 150w hps lighting it? or if you are broke, some cfls for the top till later *plant dont need much light at the beginning anyway.

yes, they will grow up towards the light
buuuut...
the buds will be stretched out and lack density.
Ideally, you want to have the light as close as possible to increase your yield.

plants will not stretch unless you go below 1500 lumens. but with that you get minimal growth.

closer the lamp, the bigger the buds and leaves, but more heatproblems.

say a 150w hps, 3-4 inches aways and you have 16000 lumens on the plant, but you also have to have more fans and now you only cover 1sqf.

1 foot aways and you have 8000 lumens per sqf and now you have 2 sqf coverage. but a lot less heat to deal with too.

7500 lumens is considered optimum, but i dont know i currently have about 30000+ on 2 square feet *each, with quite a bit more in the center id think, 2x150w hps + 4x 49w t5*

*spacerestrictions and im also curious* and the plants dont seem any worse off *only been 2 days of that so well see, i have 1 plant in 17000 lumens *t5* and 1 plant in 21000 lumens *70whps + same t5* *
