Well, I was LST'ing my only SLH plant and the tallest branch ( bottom ) "snapped" at the stem.. It isnt totally detached, but is about 60% detached.. It still has part of the main stem attached at the top ( looks like a stretchy "skin" for lack of a better word ) and is also wtill attached at the bottom.. Below is a pic ( pardon my crude drawing skills .. NO CAM ).. Should I leave it as it is ( LST'd ) and hope for the best? Or should I Tape it back as close to the way it normally was and dont LST? Or should I jsut cut it on off and say F it ? 1. - The "Skin" still attached. 2. - The branch that "snapped" away from the main stem 3. - Normal branch on other side ![]() | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That's a beech, mon! I have used soda straws to support a weak or broken stem. I keep thinking if you take two pieces, cut them to length and cut a slit up lengthwise, you could put two splints around the stems (the upper limb and the broken limb) and tape them together maybe. If you have that much of the 'skin' intact, my guess is it could be just fine in a couple weeks. Take the splints off later if you have to, or just leave them on till harvest. Good luck Pops

yeah I know that snapping sound well... I have a particular branch in mind that Ive broken numerous times the same exact damn way lol. I treat it like a clone i just cut, you dont want an embolism, so I spray with reg. H20, then grab a couple of twist ties (bonsai wire would work equally well) and wrap the first one around twice then twist to tighten and close the wound and repeat. This serves to seal the wound, close it and splint it. I like to use twist ties over wire because the paper helps to buffer the harshness of the wire on the stem.
