Good morning,

I have (in the past) "Pinched" the growing top of a Blueberry clone and trained using LST and got the most awesome bush i'd ever trained. The downside was letting her grow out for 3 months before adding to the flower cab.
"Pinching" gives two tops rather than just the one but more importantly forces the lower portions of the plant to branch and become bushier. What a great combination to LST
Just remember to tremove the under brush from below the arch where the plant comes out of the soil and bends as they most likely will never grow out enough to see light.
IMO Pinching & LST = many more budsites then if left alone. If your gonna train anyway might as well pinch the top because you aren't going to be producing that one big top cola.

Have a Great day and good luck in your training adventures

How many 5gallon buckets can fit beneath a 35"x 32" screen for SCRoG? That's roughly slightly less than 3'x 3'.

I was planning to run 2 for my recirculating system, but I figure I may go ahead and add 2 more, so I can flower multiple strains at the same time.

from what ive seen... cramming 4 plants under a screen like that may not do as well as only having 2 or 3.
u can probably get a bigger yield with 2 or 3 plants under that size a screen rather than 4.

but, if u want multi strains or if u want to veg less or something, then go with more plants.

again this is just off of knowledge from seeing and reading. i may be wrong. but am really confident with my answer.

Well, right now I have 2 Chem D starts that are about a month old. I plan to flower them, but also have a lanky Black Domina mum I would like to throw in this run as well, if my cuttings take that is.

The Black Domina is gigantic at this point. I'm figuring she could take up half the screen alone. I wonder if placement has any affect on things.

If I could cram 4 buckets together in the center of the screen, I could train the plants to grow towards their perspective corners. In the future, I plan to only veg for a month tops so I will be starting with smaller plants.

Hmm, I want to build the buckets but don't want to waste money if it's going to be too much.

I just set up my scrubber, fan and duct work to my hood with some heavy duty metal taping. I placed a couple of buckets in the designated space and seems like 4 would be too much. But I may be able to work out 3.

I know this is in the wrong forum, but since the question and answer determine whether or not I can sufficiently run 3 buckets or not. Here goes:

I have my chiller sitting beneath couple of stacked steel framed racks, which I have my scrubber up on top. If I chose to run 3 buckets, it would elminate the space to access my chiller.

I'm wondering, once the system is in use, how often will I have to tend to my chiller? Is it something I'm going to have to check on and empty like a humidifyer, or just basic maintenance in between crops?

If it's something that I do not need to mess with during the actual growing process, then I should be able to run 3 buckets easily. I could run 4, but then the plants will pretty much be growing straight up, which may or may not limit the benefits of the SCRoG.

If you MAY be able to do 3 then i would fo only 2, to get more of a yield, but again if u want diff strains then go ahead with 3. i dont think itll be much of a difference, if u fill a screen with 2 plants ur gonna be looking at alot of yield.

Hmm, well if the determining factor, as far as yield goes, is a filled screen with an even canopy, it shouldn't matter how many plants I have. I think it indicates that I may harvest less of a particular strain, but have just as much yield and variety to choose from.

The 3 definitely fit beneath the screen. 2 buckets seems like I'm slightly wasting space and lumens. Which, with a 1000wHPS, is kind of expensive and pointless. But oh, what a spacious and clean floor I will have.
