alternative to topping, aside from "not topping"

People top their plants to make 2 grow tips come out of one. What if someone just cut the top of their plant down the middle and seperated the 2 sides... would they grow?

It can't be much worst than decapitating the plant, anyway. Maybe its better.

Crabs is beginning to sprout.

I heard of people doing a small cut spliting it about an inch. I have never done it. But it was said that it turned out like a plant that has been FIM

If you look at my thanksgiving thread there are pics of a plant that had the stem split into what looked like 4-5 ropes of stem, right where I snapped the hurd and then tied tip to base. Above the "rope", the stem simply came back together and growth above continued as normal.

Id say the plant would survive and respond like a FIMd plant, serious delay in growth of the grow tip, allowing the lower branching to catch up
